SBECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 696,341, dated March 25, 1902. Application filed October 17, 1901. Serial No. 79,013.v (No model.)
T0 @ZZ whom, t may concern:
Be it known that I, AsHBA LrJoHNsom-a citizen of\the United States,'residing Yat Sanl Luis Obispo, in the county of San Luis Obispo and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inDisplay-Cabinets; and I do declare thefollowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to display-cabinets.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple, durable, and inexpensive display-cabinet by means ofwhich window-shades, lace curtains, portieres, and other drapery maybe compactly stored and easily displayed to the trade. With this andother objects in view the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, which will be hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.` v
In the accompanying drawings, Figure lis a front view of the upper portion of a cabinet, the door being removed to more thoroughly illustrate the invention. Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view, the top of the Wcabinet being removed; andFig-is an end view ofthe supporting-bracket.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings, l denotes the cabinet, which may be of any suitable shape, construction, and design. Secured within this cabinet at its upper end and in one of its rear corners is a shelf 2, which supports a pivot-cleat, above which and to the under side of the top of the cabinet is secured a similar cleat 4. These cleats extend diagonally across the cabinet, as more clearly shown in Fig. 2, and support in vertical position pivot-posts 5.
6 denotes brackets, each of which consists of a horizontal supporting-arm 7v and arcurved brace-arm 8. The inner ends of the horizontal arm and curved brace-arm are provided with sleeves 9 and l0, respectively, which are secured by set-screws to the pivot-post. The brace-arm 8 has at its upper free end parallel lips 11, spaced apart and embracing the free end of the arm 7 and secured thereto by a rivet or screw 12. The supporting-arm is preferably made of angle-iron, consisting of a horizontal web Ylyand a vertical Web 14.
. Pivotedrtothe upper end'of'the'pivot-rod isa hanger-.arm 15, which is supported upon the arm 7 and is secured thereto by verticallydisposed screws 16, passing through the horizontal web into the hanger-arm 14, and by screws or bolts 17, passing through the parallellips 11 and said hanger-arm.
19 denotes la rod or cylinder, one end of which is secured )to a bracket 20, secured to the under side of the hanger-arm atits outer end, and the other end of which is secured in a bracket 2l, carried by the curved arm 8. This rod or cylinder may be in the form of an ordinary spring-roller, andfto ,it may be attached or from it may be hung shades or drapery designed to be displayed.
By referring to Fig. 2 of the drawings it will be noted that the outer ends of the rods or rollers are arranged in zigzag manner, due to the pivotal connection of the hanger-arms 15 to the diagonally-arranged cleats, so that the goods supported by said rods or rollers will be Within plain view of the salesman or customer, and thereby enable him to quickly select for display goods -of` anyr particular color, design, or quality without swinging outwardly one by one each and every roller until-he reaches that particularkind of goods desired.
In Fig. 2 I have shown several of the rollers swung outwardly, whereby a better inspection or examination of the goods may be obtained.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and mode of operation of my invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion, and details of construction may be made within the scope of the invention without departing from the spirit or sacrificing lany of the advantages thereof.
Having vthus Vdescribed my invention, `what I claim, anddesire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination with pivot-posts, of horizontal arms secured thereto, brace-arms. secured to said pivot-posts and having their upper ends provided with parallel spaced- IOO apart lips to embrace the horizontal arms and my hand in presence of two subscribing Wit- Which are secured thereto, and hanger-arms nesses. pivoted to said posts and supported by said i 4 i T horizontal bracket-arms and bolted or riveted ASHB A L' 'TOHNSOL 5 to said horizontal bracket-arms, substantially lVitnesses:
as set forth. l. S. CENTER,
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set J. J. OSULLIVAN.
