THOMAS D. .W'IONTAGUE, OF MAlVRGLEN, PENNSYLVANIA.
lRONlNG -BOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 695,324, dated March 11, 1902. Application filed May 18, 1901. Serial No. 60,897. (No model.)
To (all whom, it 11110.3 concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS D. Monrncon, a citizen of the United States, residing at and whose post-office address is Mawrglen, in the county of Lycoining. and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Boards, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to ironing-boards of that class which are detachable from a wall or like fixed support and -are adapted to be folded so as to occupy a minimum amount of space when not in use.
The object of the invention is to provide an ironing-board adapted for ready attachment to the wall of a room or other fixed support, which may be conveniently detached and folded up for storage or transportation, and which will be simple and economical in construction.
Myimprovement comprises a pair of plates having vertical sockets and adapted to be secured to a wall, a bracket having a horizontal lip and adapted to be secured to the wall above the plates, a board having a supporting-leg, a pair of straps secured to the under side of the board, having pendent pins adapted to engage in the vertical sockets, and a horizontal cam-disk eccentrically pivoted to the board and operating between the latter and the horizontal lip.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification and to which reference is made, Figure 1 is a side or edge view showing my invention adjusted for use. Fig. 2 is a top or plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is an edge view showing the board detached from its fixed support, the leg being folded to form a brace to support the table in an upright position against a wall. Fig. i is a perspective of one of the socket-plates, and Fig. 5 is a similar view of one of the straps.
1 is the board, which may be of any approved form and dimensions.
2 is a folding leg suitably hinged or otherwise pivotally connected with the board, and 3 3 are the straps, having pendent pins 3 and screwed or otherwise secured to the under side of one end of the board. The pins are formed integral with the straps, which are provided with screw-holes, as shown, for ready attachment to the board by means of screws.
4 4c are plates having pin-sockets 4 and adapted to be screwed to a wall or other fixed support and adapted to receive the pins of the straps 3 3 and thereby sustain the board.
5 is a bracket having a horizontal lip 5 and is in the form of a shouldered plate screwed to a wall in a plane just above that of the surface of the board, and 6 is a camdisk consisting of an eccentrically-pivoted plate, having a handle 6 and adapted to engage the bracket and thereby lockand hold the board to the wall or support.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of a pair of plates having vertical sockets and adapted to be securedto a wall, a bracket having a horizontal lip and adapted to be secured to the wall above the plates, a board having a supporting-leg, a pair of straps secured to the under side of the board having pendent pins, adapted to engage in the vertical sockets, and a horizontal cam-disk eccentrically pivoted to the board and operating between the latter and the horizontal lip.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
THOMAS D. MONTAGUE.
