UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SIDNEY RUHLAND, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BILLIARD-CUE BRIDGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 690,617, dated January 7, 1902. Application led October 25, 1901. Serial No. 79,915. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIDNEY RUHLAND, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Billiard Cue Bridges, of which the following is a specilication.
Thisinvention relates to a cue-bridge for billiard and pool which will straddle and thus clear any intervening object-ball and which will permit the play ball to be properly sighted.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective View of my improved cuebridge; Fig. 2 a front View, and Fig. 8 a side view, thereof.
The letter a represents the forked support of the cue-bridge, composed of a pair of rounded diverging Shanks adapted to straddle an object-ball A. The lower ends of the Shanks are incased in rubber tips a, so as not to in- .jure the cloth. From the center of the fork a rises a perforated arm b, from one face of which project rearwardly a series of tubular cue-guides c. Between these guides the arm b is provided with wide sight-openings b. A socket b2 on arm b is adapted to receive a handle d.
The bridge is used in the usual manner and will clear any object-ball A intervening between the player and the cue-ball.
The cue B is introduced through that one of the tubular guides c which has the elevaa tion desired, while the cue-ball D is sighted through the opening b immediately above such guide.
What I claim is- A cue-bridge composed of a forked support adapted to straddle a billiard-ball, an arm projecting upwardly from said support, a series of tubular cue-guides projecting from the arm, and' sight-openings between said guides, substantially as specified.
Signed by me at New York city, county and State of New York, this 24th day of October, 1901.
SIDNEY RUHLAND. Witnessesi WM. SCHULZ, F. v. BRIESEN.
