To all whom it may concern.-
' Be it known that I, FRANCIS G. DIETZ, a citizen of the United States,residing at New York, 'in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Garment-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
In an application for patent filed by me of even date herewith, Serial No. 61,661, I have shown and described certain improvements in garment-supporters, comprising two clam ping members having engaging means thereon for the attachment of the device to a corset %nd a supporting-hook on one of said memers.
My present invention relates to the same class of devices, and resides particularly in a novel construction of clamping means whereby the supporter may be attached to a corset.
The object of the invention is to provide a safe and reliable clamp which may be readily operated for the purpose of attaching the holder to the corset and in which danger of accidental loosening of the same is effectually prevented.
Other objects and advantages of the inven tion will hereinafter appear, and the novel features thereof will be set forth in the claims.

The face-plate 1 of my improved supporter has firmly secured to it a supporting-hook 2, of any suitable form and construction, but preferably of the form shown in my other application above referred to. Projecting from the rear side of the face-plate 1 is a screwthreaded stud 3, which may be formed, if desired, on the end of the hook 2. When so formed, the face-plate l is provided with a rectangular aperture 4 to receive a rectangular shank 5 on the hook 2, this construction being provided for the purpose of preventing turning movement of said hook with respect to said plate. at'its center with a hollow shank 7, adapted to be passed through an eyelet 8 in a corset 9 and internally screw-threaded for the reception of the stud 3. Said back-plate is also provided with a series of annularly arrangetl teeth or projections 10, the said teeth extending from their bases to their pointedl ends in line with each other, which line is concentric with said back-plate. made by slitting or upsetting the metal of which the plate 6 is made, and the pointed ends thereof extend in a direction opposite that in which the plate 6 is turned for the purpose of screwing the same up onto the stud 3. The side edges of the slits in the plate 6 are at an acute angle to each other.
After slitting the prongs produced thereby are bent downwardly below the plane of the plate to form the teeth 10, which are capable of yielding movement toward said plate.
Constructed as above described my improved supporter is applied to the corset as follows: The face-plate 1 is placed against the outer surface of the corset, with the stud 3 thereon projecting through the eyelet 8 therein. Afterward the back-plate 6 is applied by placing the same upon the opposite side of the corset, with the projection or shank 7 thereon fittingwithintheeyeletS. Saidbackplate is then turned so as to screw the same up onto the stud 3 and move the plates 1 and 6 toward each other. The corset 9, which is interposed between these plates, will finally be firmly clamped, and during the turning movement of the plate 6 to accomplish this end the teeth 10 thereon ride freely, over the surface of the corset. Danger of backward or reverse turning of the plate 6 is effectually prevented by the teeth 10, as any tendency to back-turning movement of said plate would cause the teeth 10 to bite or enter into the surface of the corset. The holder is thereby firmly and securely connected to the corset, and danger of accidental disconnection of the same therefrom is effectually prevented.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A garment-supporter comprising a faceplate and having a supporting-hook on one side thereof and a screw-threaded stud or projection on the opposite side thereof, and a back-plate having a hollow internally-screwthreaded shank thereon adapted to fit within an eyelet of a corset, the said back-plate having an annularly-arranged series of slits therein forming prongs which are bent downwardly below the plane of said plate to produce yielding teeth or projections, the said teeth extending from their bases or points of connection with said plate to their pointed ends in line with each other which line is concentric with said plate.
4. A garment-supporter, comprising a faceplate having a rectangular opening therein, a supporting-hook having a rectangular shank thereon fitting within said opening and provided with a screw-threaded stud which projects beyond the rear surface of said faceplate, and a back-plate having a hollow, internally-screw-threaded shank thereon adapted to fit within a corset-eyelet, the said backplate having an annularly-arranged series of slits therein located entirely within the outer edge of said plate, and the prongs produced thereby being bent downwardly below the plane of said plate to form yielding teeth or projections on said plate for preventing reverse turning movement thereof.
