THOMAS .IIEFFEMAN, OF AUBURN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE AMERICAN \VRINGER COMPANY, A CORPORATION OF RHODE ISLAND. V
CLOTH ES-WRING ER.
SPECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 686,898, dated November 19, 1901.
' Application filed November 26, 1900. Serial lie. 37,723. (No model.)
To a whom, it may concern:
Be it'known that I, THOMAS I'IEFFEMAN, a
citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Auburn, State of New York, ha e 5 invented certain newand u 4e1'ui Improvements in ClothesWVringers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention consists in certain new at- .tachments for a clothes-wringer whereby the KO drip from the wringer-rolls is prevented from running down the frame of the machine to the floor, devices being provided [or directing the drip to the tub.
In the drawings herewith, in which similar .1 5 lettersindicate like parts in the several views, Figure 1 is a side view of a wringer contain ing my improvements. Fig. 2 is an end view, partly in section, upon the line a y of Fig. 1. Figs. 3, 4, and 5 are enlarged detail views of 2o the tilting table and drip-troughs forming features of my invention.
A wringer-frame composed of side pieces or uprights A, top cross-bar B, and front and back boards is provided of usual form for z machines of this class, the sidepieces A being slotted to receive the usual wringerrol1s. (Not shown.) A tilting table D is supported at either end in head-blocks F, supported by pivots, or, as shown, by pivcf;-
o rod (Z, mounted in the uprights A, said head blocks 1 having channels to receive the ends of the table D and-being provided on their upper surfaces with integral wings or flanges e, said headbloeks having slotted bearings ,5 on their under sides, through which the pivotrod d passes. From this construction it will be seen that the said table D may be moved unto the positions shown by the solid and V dotted lines in Fig. 2, the slotte l bearings d 0 in the head-blocks F permittin said table'D to be. reversed to direct thedrip to either. side of the wringer, the table taking itsbear mg against the under side of the boards 0 when in its two positions. The water falling on this tilting table D is prevented from running off from its ends by the upwardly-p jecting wings or flanges'c of the head-blocks F. Drip troughs or conductors G, preferably of malleable iron and galvanized, are secured to the uprights A, preferably by being provided with lateral wings.which enter slots or kerfs in said uprights, as more clearly shown in Fig. 4, said drip-conductors being located above and overhanging the ends of the tilting table D and extending inwardly over the flanges e on the head-blocks F of said table, said conductors being thus adapted to .convey the drip from the said uprights A onto said table, whence it will run intg the tub.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Pat- Gilt-7 V In a wringer, the combination with a .wringer-frame, of a drip-receiving table D,
head-blocks F in which said tableD is mounted, pivotal supports for said head-blocks,
slotted hearings on the under side of said head-blocks to engage said pivotal supports, whereby said table D may be tilted and slid laterally in either direction to direct the drip from the rolls to either side or the wriuger, integral drip-flanges e rising from the upper surfaces of said head-blocks F to prevent the escape of drip at the ends of the table D, and drip-troughs G secured to the wringer-frame above, the said table D, said drip troughs overhanging and projecting beyond the vertical drip-flanges c on the head-blocks F to direct the drip from the wringer-frame to the tableDi- Signed at Aubnrn,.New York, this 24th day of November, A.
