LAMB, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 685,052, dated October 22 1901.
Application filed June 27, 1901. Serial No. 66,214. (No 11106 1 To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MANUEL S. LAMB, a subject of the King of Portugal, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Window Shade and Curtain Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to an improvement in fixtures for supporting the rollers of window-shades and the rods for window-curtains.
The invention consists in the peculiar and novel construction and the combination of parts whereby the supporting devices may be adjusted, as will be more fully set forth hereinafter.
Figure 1 is an elevation showing the devices secured to the window-casing, the shaderoller and curtain -r0d being indicated in broken lines. Fig. 2 is a top view of the devices, indicating in broken lines that the shade-roller supports may be reversed. Fig. 3 is an end view of the device used at one side of thewindow, and Fig. 4 is an end-view of the device used at the other side of the window. Fig. 5 is an enlarged sectional view showing the means for securing the shade and the curtainrsupports to the base.
Similar marks of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
In the drawingsfa indicates a base-block; a a, perforated end lips through which screws extend for securing the base-block; aha trans verse groove in the base-block, into which the curtain-brackets Z? are inserted; and a a lon gitudinal tongue which extends through the slot 0' in the plate 0, from one end of which the arm 0 extends, which arm forms the supscrew-thread engagement with the base-block a, and it extends through the slot 0 and a hole in the bracket 1). The head of the thumb; screw cl bears on the plate 0 and firmly secures the same to the base-block a. The head of the thumb-screw is provided with a flat finger-piece pivotally connected with the head. The plate a may be adjusted longitudinally on the base-block and may be reversed, as is indicated in broken lines in Fig. 2. The curtain-brackets b have the bifurcated arms I) and b forming the support for the curtain pole, the front arm being provided with the screw b by which the pole b is secured.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- In a window shade and curtain fixture, a pair of shade-roller and curtain supports consisting each of the base a, having the perforated ends a a, the transverse groove a and the longitudinal tongues a in combination with the plate 0, having the longitudinal slot 0 and the arm 0 on one end, the curtainbrackets b, and the thumb-screw (1, whereby said plate may be reversed and adjusted to windows varying in width, as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
