Description

No. 682,063. Patented Sept. 3', l90l. A. HABERSTBOH ADHESIVE FASTENER.
(Application filed May 24, 1901.)
(No Model.)
UNITED STATES 'ATENT OFFIC ALBERT IIABERSTROH, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
ADHESIVE FASTEN ER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 682,063, dated September 3,1901. Application filed May 24, 1901. Serial No. 61,781. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALBERT HABERSTROH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Adhesive Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in adhesive fasteners for temporarily attaching sheets of paper, cloth, 850., to a table, wall, glass, or other object, as may be desired, and allowing such articles to be readily removed from each other, as may be desired.
The invention is carried out as follows, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 represents a front elevation of the improved adhesive fastener. Fig. 2 represents a cross-section on the line 2 2 shown in Fig. 1. a modification of the said adhesive fastener. Fig. 4 represents a cross-section on the line 4 4 shown in Fig. 3. Fig. 5 represents a front elevation showing the adhesive fasteners in use for attaching a sheet, &G., to a table or other object; and Fig. 6 represents a crosssection on the line 6 6 shown inFig. 5.
Similar letters refer to similar parts wherever they occur on the different parts of the drawings.
The device consists of two sheets or portions A and B, which are cemented or otherwise attached together face to face. The portion B is solid, and to it is cemented or otherwise attached an annular ring or sheet A, as shown.
I) is the cemented central portion of the solid sheet 13, which is exposed in sight through the perforated portion of the shield or sheet A, as shown.
In Figs. 5 and 6, 0 represents a sheet of paper or other material which is to be temporarily attached to the table or other support D by means of my improved fastener, as shown in said Figs. 5 and 6.
Fig. 3 represents a front elevation of In using the device for the purpose stated I first place the sheet 0 upon the support D, after which I place one or more of the adhesive fasteners with the cemented portion Z7 partially on the sheet 0 and partially on the support D, as shown in Figs. 5 and 6, after which I press the cemented portion of the fastener upon the sheet 0 and support D, causing such portions to be held in position one relative to the other by the adhesive portion 19 of the fastener.
By making the annular portion of the disk A non-cemented it will be seen that it does not adhere to the sheet 0 and support D, and consequentlyit may readily be detached from such parts simply by raising the edge of the disk A and pulling 0% the cemented central portion b from the sheet 0 and support D.
I wish to state that I do not desire to confine myself to any precise shape, size, or form of the disks Aand B, it being only necessary that one shall be solid, while the other must be annular and attached face to face with the solid disk, the latter having a central adhesive surface exposed through the perforation in the annular disk and adapted to be attached to the objects that are to be connected, as shown and described.
What I wish to secure by Letters Patent and claim is- The herein-described adhesive fastener, consisting of two members attached together one of which members is annular, having a central perforation, and the other of which members is solid and adh'esively coated at its central portion which is exposed in the centralperforation of the annular member, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand inpresence of two subscribing witnesses.
ALBERT HABERSTROH.
