Be it known that I, WARREN A. DURRIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Woodville, in the county of St. Croix and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Bath-Cabinet, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to bath-cabinets, and has for its object to provide an improved portable and collapsible device of this character which may be readily set up and taken apart and folded and which is also arranged to effectually retain the heat and vapor and prevent the water from being splashed upon surrounding objects.

It is furthermore designed to provide an improved supporting-frame for the cabinet proper, so as to house and brace the latter, and alsoform a convenient support for a water-receptacle for administering a shower after the vapor-bath has been completed.

With these and other objects in view the present invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claim, it being understood that changes in the form, proportion, size, and minor details may be made within the scope of the claim without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bath-cabinet constructed and arranged in accordance with the present invention. Fig. 2 is a central vertical sectional View thereof. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of one of the joints of one of the standards of the supporting-frame.

Corresponding parts are designated by like characters of reference in all of the figures of the drawings.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, 1 designates the body of the cabinet, which is preferably in the form of a cylinder made of flexible waterproof material and provided with a flat bottom 2 and an open upper end. The sides of the cabinet are stiffened and held in shape by means of a plurality of circular ribs or rings 3, made of metal or other suitably stiff material, whereby the cabinet may be collapsed in the manner of a Ohi- Serial No. 24,580. To support the cabinet in an upright position, there is provided a tripod 4, each leg or standard of which is formed by upper and lower sections 5 and 6, respectively, which are connected by means of asuitable hinge 7,10- cated upon the outer side of the leg, so that the latter may be folded longitudinally when not in use. Upon the inner side of one of the sections and adjacent to the hinged connection thereof there is provided a looselymounted hook 8, which overlaps the joint 7 between the two sections and is designed to be engaged with a suitable eye or catch 9, projecting from the inner side of the other section, whereby the hinged joint is made rigid when the tripod or frame is set up for use. The upper ends of the leg-standards are hingedly connected in any suitable manner, so as to fold inwardly against each other in the manner of all tripods.

In setting up the device the body of the cabinet is placed upon the floor in its collapsed shape, and then the tripod is set up so as to straddle the cabinet, after which the latter is unfolded or drawn upwardly between the leg-standards and fixedly connected to the latter by means of leather or other suitably flexible loops or straps 10, which are connected to the upper marginal edge of the cabinet and engaged with hooks or projections 11, carried by the lower end portions of the upper leg sections whereby the cabinet is held in an upright position and is effectively braced and housed between the leg-standards of the frame or tripod.

The upper open end of the body of the cabinet is closed by means of a cover 12, formed of waterproof material stretched over a circular frame or band 13, which forms a pondent marginal flange or rim to embrace the upper marginal edge of the cabinet, so as to prevent lateral displacement of the cover. The cover is also provided with a central opening for the reception of the neck of the bather, and from the edges of this opening rises a flexible neckband or collar 14, provided with a draw-string 15, whereby the neck may be drawn tightly about the neck of the leather, so as to prevent the escape of the ient and effective manner.

Located within the cabinet and supported upon the bottom thereof is a suitable removable seat 16 for the use of the bather, and beneath the seat is placed an alcohol-lamp or other suitable heat-generating device 17, and in front of the seat is placed a basin or other receptacle 18 for the reception of water for the generation of Vapor and for'the reception of the feet of the bather.

At any suitable location in the bottom of the cabinet there is provided a drain-openin g, which is closed by means of a suitable stop per or closure-plug 19, so as to facilitate the draining of whatever water may collect in the pan-like bottom of the cabinet.

' It will be understood that the top of the cabinet is such a distance above the seat as to permit of the neck of the bather being inclosed by the neckband 14:, which is drawn tightly around the bathers neck, so that the cover or top may be vapor-tight.

To administera cool shower after the vaporbath, there is provided a suitable elevated water-receptacle, such as a pail or bucket 20, having a bail-handle 21 and a flexible tube 22, connected at or adjacent to the bottom of the receptacle and provided at its free end with a spray-nozzle 23. This receptacle is raised to an elevated position over the top of the cabinet by means of a cord 24, which passes through a suitable pulley or guide 25, secured to the upper end of the tripod or frame, and has one end connected to the bail of the bucket, the opposite free end of the cord being designed for engagement with a cleat 26 or other suitable cord-holding device secured to one of the leg-standards. When the vapor-bath has been completed, the top or cover of the cabinet is removed, also the seat, lamp, and basin, and then by manipulation of the nozzle a shower-bath may be taken, the water being caught and held within the cabinet, so as to prevent the surroundingobjectsfrom'beingsplashed. After the completion of the shower-bath the straps 10 are disconnected from the leg-standards and the cabinet is collapsed, and the water contained within the pan-like bottom is then drawn ofi through the drain-opening, which is normally closed by the plug or stopper 19.

What is claimed is-- The herein-described bath-cabinet, com prising a vertically-collapsible cabinet-body, having an open upper end, a removable top therefor, having an opening formed therein, and providedwith an upstanding adjustable neckband surrounding the opening, a supporting-tripod straddling the cabinet-body, the upper ends of the leg-standards thereof having a mutual foldable connection, and each leg-standard having an intermediate joint, whereby the tripod may be folded, the cabinet-body rising above the joints of the leg-standards and having a detachable supporting connection therewith above said joints, a guide carried by the upper end of the tripod and arranged between adjacent standards thereof, a water-receptacle, having a flexible supporting connection which passes loosely through the guide to elevate the receptacle, a flexible pipe connected to the receptacle, and having a discharge-nozzle, and means for fastening the free portion of the flexible connection to one of the leg-standards when the receptacle is elevated, the latter being seated snugly between adjacent stand ards in its elevated position.
