UNITED STATES PATENT FF'ICE.
DANIEL N. OALKINS, OFROOHESTER, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO ROCHESTER GERMIOIDE 00., OF SAME PLACE.
DISINFECTANT-HOLDER.
SPECKFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 681,100, dated August 20, 1901.. Application filed September 15, 1900. Serial No. 30,143. (No model.)
Be it known that I, DANIEL N. GALKINs, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing at Rochester, in the county of Monroe, in the State of New York, (whose post-ofiice address is 162 South avenue, Rochester, New York,) have invented certain Improvements in Disinfectant-Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

' In the accompanying drawings, A represents the body or fixed part of my improved disinfectant-holder; B, the detachable casing or cover; 0, the inverted liquid-receptacle; D, the cup; F, the siphon, and G and H the delivery-spouts. The body is adapted to be attached to a wall or other upright support. It may be made as an open frame to secure lightness. The casing is made of a suitable shape adapted to inclose the receptacle and the cup. The receptacle is attached to the body in any suitable way--such, for instance, as the strap I, which extends around it and engages by its bent ends with notches in the body. The weight of the receptacle rests on the lug J, projecting outward from the body H I The receptacle is thus supported in position and engaging with the shoulder on the bottle.

The cover is provided with any suitably-arranged apertures for the purposes of ventilation and of inspection.
The body is provided with one or more pro jecting lugs M, which support the cup D. This cup is made in one piece, of glass or other suitable non-corrosive material, open at top and closed at bottom. At one corner the wall N is bent inward to afiord room for the receiver 0, which is provided with the delivery-tube G. Between the lower open end of the inverted receptacle 0 and the bottom of the cup D is placed a suitable absorptive material P, such as felt or other suitable fabric, and the liquid disinfectant in the receptacle slowly feeds into the cup as fast as the evaporation allows air to enter the neck of the receptacle. A siphon F is arranged to feed the liquid fromthe bottom of the cup to the delivery-tubes G or H, as may be desired. The siphon is formed of a piece of wicking and is attached to a flexible strip of metal R, which may be bent in either direction, so as to cause the siphon to feed into either one of the tubes G or H.
The tube G is preferably used where the delivery requires to be drop by drop and the spout H where the feed may be continuous, a pipe being attached to the spout. The inner end of the siphon dips into the liquid in the cup and the outer end at the lower level is placed in one of the spouts. placed in the cup, resting on the bottom. The flexible strip R is attached to this plate. A short distance above the plate a piece of perforated metal T is placed below the neck of the receptacle, any suitable absorptive material being interposed, if desired. The perforated metal T turns up at each end, forming wings V. A piece of felt P is attached to the bottom of the strip T and to the inside of the wings. In this way the evaporation of the disinfectant is materially increased.
I claim- 1. The combination with a suitable casing, of a cup mounted in the lower end thereof, an inverted liquid-receptacle opening into said cup, absorptive material in said cup, a del livery tubeandspout adjacent said cup,'and
strip secured to said plate, and a wick supported by said flexible strip for conducting the contents of said cup to said delivery-tube, substantially as described.
3. The combination with the inverted liquid -receptacle, of the cup, the perforated:
enioo metal faced with absorptive material and provided with the wings, the receiver and the siphon communicating between the cupand the receiver, as and for the purposes set forth.
4:. The combination with an inverted liquidreceptacle ofa cup, a perforated tplate,opro-- vided-withwings, faced with absorptive'material, a-delivery-tube adjacent said cup, a flexible metallic strip mounted in said cup, and a wick supported by said flexible strip for conducting the contents of said cup to said delivery-tube, substantially as described.
