TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, CHARLES J. BALL, of Keokuk, in Lee county, and State of Iowa, have invented a new and improved Lid 01' Cover for the Apertures in the Top s of Cooking-Stoves; and I do hereby declare the following to he a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the annexed drawings, and the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a plain top view of one entire stove top, showing the cover as in use, two of the covers being on, and two of? of the apertures to which they belong.

The object of this invention is to remove and replace cooking-stove covers with greater facility, to atord more room for vessels on top of the stove, and to prevent the breaking of covers by falling. l
A hole is made through the top of the stove at the proper place to receive the curved pin 1, fig. 3, around which the covers turn or revolve horizontally, the pin P being connected with the cover by the shank S. The cover is removed from the aperture or placed over it by using the lifter, figl 5, inserting the prong l in the cavity or opening K, figs. 3 and 4, raising and turning the cover as desired, and, if necessary, entirely detaching and removing the cover from the stove by raising the outer edge E, fig. 2, of the cover until the curved pin 1 can be withdrawn from its hole in the top of the stove.
