UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
RICHARD REESE, OF DRESDEN, GERMANY.
REGUlaATOR FOR GAS-BURNERS SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 676,173, dated June 11, 1901.
Application filed January 25, 1901. Serial No. 44,742. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD BEEsE, a subject of the King of Saxony, residing at 13 Gluckstrasse, Dresden, German Empire, have invented a new and useful Regulator for Gas- Burners, of which thefollowing is a specification,
The present invention consists of a new and useful regulator for incandescent gasburners, of which the following description forms the Specification, and in which similar letters of reference refer throughout to similar parts.
Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of an incandescent gas-light burner embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view on the line A B of Fig. 1. Fig; 3 is a lfii orizontal sectional view on the line C D of The new regulator 0 consists of a cylindrical body having one end open and provided on the inner surface with a screwthread adapted to engage a screw-thread formed on the outer sidev of a gas-pillar a, which is provided with a' plurality of gaschannels f. The upper portion of the regulator C is somewhat conically shaped and is provided with concentric neck 0, in which a plate e is mounted. A conical-shaped pin 1) is mounted in the center of the gas-pillar,with its upper end projecting through a centrallylocated circular opening in plate e aforesaid.
The regulator O carries on its lower edge a flange 01, passing through openings 1, formed in a cylindrical housing is, screwed onto the pillar a aforesaid, and which housing is adapted to support at its upper portion the lower end of the Bunsen tube h, provided with airopenings 71 therein Secured to the regulator O and extending outwardly and upwardly therefrom is a cylindrical collar g, provided with openings therein adapted to register with openings r aforesaid.
The operation of the invention is clearly obvious. By grasping the flange d the regulator can be easily and quickly revolved, and
owing to its screw-thread connection with the gas-pillar is thereby raised or lowered, in consequence of which the opening in plate 6 through which the gas passes from channels f is opened or closed, owing to the said opening being more or less filled by the pin 7). Simultaneously therewith the cylindrical collarmoving with the regulator controls the inflow of air through openings i by more or less closing the same.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is-
A new and improved regulator for incandescent gas-burners, having a gas-pillar provided with channels therein, a cylindrical shaped regulator vertically adjustable mounted thereon, a neck in the upper end of said regulator, a plate provided with a central opening in said neck, a conical-shaped pin on said gas-pillar and entering said plateopening, a Bunsen tube also attached to said gas-pillar a cylindrical collar on said regulator adapted to move therewith and govern the Bunsen-tube openings and a flange on said regulator for easily operating the same.
