.TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, E. SMITH, of Farmington, in the county of Fulton, and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful improvements in Cherry-Stonersf and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
The machine embraced in the present invention is for extracting the stones from cherries without crushing or lacerating them, except an orifice or opening but a little larger than the seed. In the accompanying plate of drawings my improved machine for stoning cherries is illustrated- Figure 1 being a plan or top view of the same.
Figure 2, a central longitudinal vertical section taken in the plane of the line a: z, fig. 1; and
Figure 3, a plan view of the machine with the top plate removed.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
A, in the drawings, represents a box or case made of a rectangular shape, and supported at its two ends upon legs B, so as to be inclined from C to D. E, the top or cover piece to the box A, on which is secured a hopper-box, F, having communicating passages, G, with the interior of the box for the passage of cherries thereto. H, a slide arranged to be moved forward and backward through the part I of box A, from end to end, this slide having a stem or handle, J, projecting through K of top piece E for convenience in moving it. To this slide H two needles L are fixed, projecting through the partition and discharge-plate M of box A. These needles are hollow at their outer ends N, and perforated at a. 0, an opening in bottom P of box A, through which the cherries escape or pass out.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The inclined box A, in combination with slide H, carrying needles L, and discharge-bar M, substantially as and for the purpose described.
E. SMITH.
