U ITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.-
RAOUL Titan, OF PARIS, FRANCE.
AOETYLENE-LAMP FOR VEHICLES.
SPECIFICATIGN forming part Of Letters Patent No. 672,925, dated April 30, 1901.
Application filed December 6, 1897. Serial No. 660,988. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RAOUL TfiR'R, a subject of the King of Italy, residing at Paris, France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Acetylene-Lamps for Vehicles,of'which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention has relation to acetylenelamps adapted for use upon various classes of vehicles; and among the objects in view is to provide a light, simple, and inexpensive lamp of this character and one which may be readily charged and cleaned and in'which the flow of gas to the burner will be even and constant when in use; and with the above objects in View the invention consists in, the novel construction, arrangement, and combination of parts, as hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the drawing, and pointed out in the appended claims.
The drawing illustrates a vertical sectional view of a burner constructed according to my invention.
My device comprises a tube Z, which at one end is provided with a nipple 'n, to which the tube 0 is connected, and the opposite end of the tube 1 is connectedwith a socket-piece m, to which is screwed a burner-tip vi. The tube 0 leads to a suitable gas-generating device.
j indicates a bulb carrying the nipple n and the piece m, and to said bulb is secured a bracket 10, by which the device may be attached to the vehicle.
Within the bulb j and surrounding the tube Z is a second bulb is, made of elastic material, and that portion of the tube inclosed by said bulb is perforated, as at m for the passage of gas to within the bulb, which latter acts as a pressure-regulator to maintain an even pressure of gas at the burner-tip.
Inclosing the socket-piece and burner-tip is a sleeve h which supports the reflector A, which latter is provided adjacent to the burner-tip with an opening or openings 0 for the admission of air and toward its upper portion with an opening 11 for the escape of the burned gas. A shield or cover 6 is ar-. ranged over the opening b as shown, while said reflector is provided with a glass plate f 1. In an acetylene-lamp, the combination .with a gas-generating portion, and a gas-supply tube leading therefrom, of a burner portion comprisinga tube in communication with the gas-supply tube, and perforated as described, an elastic bulb surrounding the perforated portion of the tube, a casing surrounding said bulb and a bracket connected with the said casing and adapted to support the parts from a vehicle. v
2. In an acetylene-lamp, the combination with a gas-generating portion, and a gas-supply tube leading therefrom, of a burner portion com prisingatube in communication with the gas-supply tube, and perforated as described, an elastic bulb surrounding the perforated portion of the tube, a casing surrounding the bulb, a bracket connected with the casing, a reflector provided with air-admission openings, and a burned-gas-escape opening, and a glass plate arranged in advance of the open front of the reflector.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 19th day of November, 1897.
