UNrTnn STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WALTER G. \VUICHET, OF DAYTON, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE PASTEUR- OHAMBERLAND FILTER COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
COMBlNED FAUCET AND OVERFLOW.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 664,808, dated December 25, 1900.
Application filed March 12, 1900. Serial No. 8.261. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WALTER G. WUIOHET, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Faucet and Overflow, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in a combined faucet and overflow particularly adapted for use in connection with storage jars or reservoirs for filters.
My invention consists in the constructions and combinations of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure l is asectional view of my device shown as applied to a storage jar or reservoir of a filter. Fig. 2 is a partial sectional View of the faucet, on an enlarged scale, with a portion of the overflow-pipe, Fig. 3 is a sectional view through the end of the barrel of the faucet at the point where the overflow-pipe is attached. Fig. 4 is a similar view showing a slight modification.
Like parts are represented by similar letters of reference in the several views.
In the said drawings, a represents a faucet adapted to be secured in the usual manner to a jar or reservoir 29, the valve portion a. of said faucet being of any suitable construction. The rear portion or barrel a is divided into two chambers a and a by a longitudinal dividing-wall 61, which extends from the inner end of the barrel of said faucet forwardly to a point about midway thereof and is then extended down, so as to close the end of the lower chamber a at this point, the other end of said chamber being also closed by the end of the barrel, as shown at a.
The overflow-pipe c,which extends to a point near the top of the jar or reservoir 6, is con nected to the lower chamber at a point thereof which extends into said jar, preferably by securing said pipe in a screw-threaded opening in the division-wall a the end of said pipe being screw-threaded for that purpose.
The lower conduit or chamber a is provided on its under side, at a point therein out of the reservoir, with a discharge nozzle or opening (Z to permit the liquid entering the same through the overflow to drain therefrom.
The inner end of the barrel is cut away at a point about the conduit or chamber a, as shown at (1 to permit the liquid in the'jar to enterthe upper chamber a of said faucet and to be drawn through the same as desired.
The reservoir to which Ihave shown my invention applied is one commonly in use in connection with filters and, it will be understood, is adapted to receive a continual flow of water from a suitable filter through a connection 6.
By the construction thus described it will be seen that a simple compact arrangement of parts is secured, necessitating but a single opening through the reservoir.
Having thus described my invention, I claim 7 1. In a storage jar or reservoir, the combination of a faucet having two independent conduits or chambers with inlets and outlets formed integrally in the barrel thereof and a valve to control the outlet of one of said chambers, the outlet of the other chamber remaining open, said barrel being inserted through and attached to a single opening in the wall of said jar or reservoir, thereby extending the inlets of said conduits or chambers into said jar or reservoir and an overflow-pipe in said jar or reservoir attached to the inlet of the chamber having the open out1et,substantially as specified.
2. In a storage jar or reservoir, the combination of a faucet having two independent conduits or chambers with inlets and outlets formed integrally in the barrel thereof and a valve to control the outlet of one of said chambers the outlet of the other chamber remaining open, said barrelbeing screw-threaded on its outer periphery to insert and attach the same through a single opening in the wall of said jar or reservoir thereby extending the inlets of said conduits or chambers into said jar or reservoir and an overflow-pipe in said jar or reservoir attached to the inlet of the chamber having the open outlet, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 7th day of March, A. D. 1900.
WALT-ER G. WUIOHET.
