The body A of the carriage is moulded of India rubber, with the exception of the bottom a, which may be made of wood or any other suitable material. The seat B is also made of hard rubber, and provided with grooves so as to be held by the sides of the body. The body is provided with flanges Z2 6, so as to secure the seat thereto with bolts and screws, as shown. Flanges c c are also arranged on the body to enable it to be more easily secured to the bottom a, as shown. The body A may be strengthened by cross-pieces old, of which any number may be cast with it. It is obvious that ornaments of any desired kind may be readily produced in this manner, and aearriage or sleigh body of a high finish may be made almost as easy as a plain one. The rubber may also be colored, so that various tints may, if desired, be used. The wheels 13 may also be made of one solid piece'of rubber, if desired, but they may bealso made in various parts; the hubs and spokes being'moulded together, and the felloes and tires applied afterward, which felloes may also be made of wood or other suitable material; or the whole wheel may be cast in one with the hub of wood or other material, as may be desired. The runners of sleighs may also be made of rubber and covered with metal. The bows, or all the solid'parts of folding or stationary wagon tops, may also be made of hard rubber.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The carriage or sleigh body A, when made of hard rubber, and provided with flanges Z1 and c, and crosspleces d, substantially as and for the purpose herein shown and described. I
2. The running gear of'wagons and sleighs when made of rubber, substantially as herein shown and described.
