GZA EGYESY, OF BUDA-FESTE, AUSTRIA-HUNGARY.
MEANS FOR CONTROLLING HORSES.
SPECIFICATION forming' part 0f Letters Patent No. 649,285, dated May 8, 1 90. Application led February 26, 1897. Serial No. 6.25214. (No model.)
To @ZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GZA EGYEsY, directorL general of the firm of Orszaggylsi Knyonyomda, of BudaPesth, in the Empire of Aus'- tria-Hungary, have invented an Improved Means for Controlling Horses, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The purpose of this invention is to provide superior means for arresting horses should they become violent when hitched to vehicles, to which end I employ a strap or straps connected with the bridle and rove through guide devices on the thills, the strap or straps passing to the vehicle, where they may be This specification is the disclosure of one form of my invention, While the claim defines the actual scope thereof.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the double form of the guide device. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the single form, and Fig. 3 is a view showing the invention in use.
The strap @,by which the horse is controlled, is connected with the bridle through the medium of a ring d, and the inner end of the strap has a ring a2 attached thereto, which may be engaged with the hook h, attached to the dashboard of the vehicle, when the controlling-line is not used. When the controllingline is brought into use, it may be drawn back so that the ring a2 may be engaged with either one of the hooks h or t and h2, thus to' hold the horse underpressure which has been applied to the lines a. l
A number of guide devices are attached to the vehicle and to the thill, through which guide devices the controlling-line is passed, These guide devices, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, may be constructed either single or double, as required. The double form (see Fig. 1 has a bolt which may engage with the thill or body of the vehicle to hold the guide device securely in place. To this bolt are attached two rings fr'. In these rings tubular guides are mounted to roll, and the guides carry rollers la to be engaged by the controlling line or lines. The single form of the invention (see Fig. 2) has simply a single ring t' attached to the bolt and a single tubular guide and roller, as shown.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-'- In a means for controlling horses, guide devices for the controlling-lines, such guide devices comprising bolts adapted to be attached to one of the thills, rings rigidly attached to the bolt, tubular guides revolubly mounted on the rings and rollers respectively mounted on the tubular guides.
In witness whereof I hereunto set mylland in presence of two Witnesses.
GZA EGYESY.
