SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 645,702, dated March 20, 1900.

Be it known that I,LOUIS ARTHUR ARLA'UD, a citizen of the United States of America,residin g at Leavenworth, in the county of Leavenworth and State of Kansas,have invented certain new and useful Improvements'in Land- Markers, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements for marking ground preparatory to'planting seed.-

One object of my invention is to provide a land-marker which is so constructed that it 1 may be adjusted to mark off rows at difierdescription of the several auxiliary features of my invention I desire to here distinctly state and emphasize the fact that although I have shown in the accompanying drawings and described in the following description certain component and cooperating parts which I deem sufficiently improved and operative to carry out the fundamental principles herein incorporated, however I do not confine myself to the exact details of construction so illustrated and described, since obvious departures may be made without deviating from the inherentand generic features constituting the gist of the invention.

In the drawings forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the complete device. Fig. 2 is a detail view illustrating the adjustable sleeves and teeth.

Referring by letter to the drawings, A represents a cylindrical bar having adj ustably mounted thereon a series of sleeves B, each provided with oppositely-disposed lugs 0, adapted to support teeth D, and thumbscrews E for securing the sleeves in the desired position. The central sleeve is provided with a tubular portionlF, which is internally screw-threaded and adapted to receive a handle G, formed in two sections and coupledtogether by an ordinary pipe-coup-' eyes N, so as to make the adjustment more readily.

It will thus be seen that I provide an ex ceedingly cheapand simple form of landmarker and one'that will efliciently perform all of its intended functions.

of my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- v 1. In a land-marker, a bar having a series of adjustable sleeves mounted thereon, the said sleeves having thumb-screws and lugs, of teeth secured to the said lugs, of a handle secured to the central sleeve, and rods for bracing the handle, substantially as shown and described.

2. In a land-marker, a barhaving a series of sleeves adj ustably mounted thereon, thumb-screws and lugs upon the said sleeves,

said lugs-supporting teeth, a handle secured to the central sleeve, a sleeve upon the ban dle, rods connecting the sleeves upon the handle with the sleeves on the bar, substan tially as shown and described.

3. In a land-marker, a bar having a series of sleeves adj ustably mounted thereon, said sleeves provided with thumb-screws and lugs, said lugs supporting teeth, a handle detachably secured to the central sleeve, a sleeve adjustably secured on the handle, rods detachably secured to the sleeve on the handle and detachably connected to eyes in the sleeves on the bar, substantially as shown and for the purpose set forth.
