SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 645,406, dated March 13, 1900. Application filed May 29,1899- Serial No. 718,727. (No modehl To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, DEVOLCO POTTER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vashing- Gloves; and I do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form apart of this specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in gloves.

My object is to provide a pair of gloves to be worn upon the hands and used for rubbing purposes when washing clothing, 850., thereby protecting the hands from injury and permitting the free use of the fingers of the same.

With this object in view my invention finally consists in the novel form of glove, as will be herein after more fully described in detail.

To fully describe my invention in detail, reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, wherein I have shown a glove constructed according to my invention, in which- Figure l is a vertical face view of the glove. Fig. 2 is a sectional view through the same on the line A B of Fig. 1.

To put my invention into practice, I construct a glove 1, of rubber, in which the finger ends are dispensed with, so as not to in.-

terfere with the handling of goods. Around the palm of each glove I increase the thickness of the material, as this is the point of working when in the act of rubbing the goods, and in order to get the desired eifect I form upon said surface a number of pointed projections 2, preferably of the diamond form, so as to produce a rough surface, as shown, and aid in holding the goods. By this means the hands are effectually protected against injury and the roughened surface will hold the goods with more ease than the bare hands.

Having thus fully shown and set forth my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

As a new article of manufacture, a finger= less washing-glove composed entirely of rubber of an equal thickness throughout the glove with the exception of the palm portion thereof which is corrugated on its outer face and is of an increased thickness projecting outwardly beyond the plane of the glove Whereby the corrugated projecting portion alone comes in contact with the material when the glove is used, substantially as set forth.
