IMPROVED SASH-ROPE PLATE.

IO ALL WHOM IT MAY OONCERN:

Be it known that I, ANTHONY ISKE, of Lancaster, in the county of Lancaster, and Sta-te. of' Pennsylvania, have invented a nen' and additional improvement to my Improvement in Window Sash, Patent No. 61,433, which consists in a design and construction of a metallic plate especially adapted thereto; and I do herebydeclare that the following is a full and exact description thereof', reference beinghadvto the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Y A Figures 1, 2, and 3 illustrate the construction and application of' the knotted cord.

The object of this invention is to obviate the necessity of applying my extra strip to both sides of the sash, thereby greatly simplifying myv former invention, being the same plate sent to the office prior to action being had on said patent, but not tllen admitted from a wantof regularity in itsl prescltatiop. r["his plate is so clearly shown in the drawings that any one skilled in the art can make and apply the same.

The oblong square plate A. has a circular opening, B, through which the knot K on the end of' the cord R is thrust, therc being an excavation made in the saslnvbehind the -plateto allow the knot to sliptupwards on the inclined sides E of the upper `grooved portion D, raisedV or convex on the back portionof the plate; the cord ventering the slot C above the opening B, and is thus buttonetl, as it were, to the plate, there being a deep groovc on the upper portion of` .the plate on its outer face in which thecord lies, a similer groove being continued in thc wood of' -the sash for the cord leading to the pu1ley,.as is usually the casein saslrhaving cords and pulleys. lhis plate may also be used on each side nf the sash for aiiixing the cords, instead of nailing, andanswers far better than a cylindrical ring, in combination with an opening, neck and eye, or othersimilar appliances, where the knot is not hidden fully behind the plate and perfectly out of thc way ofv friction.

I am aware that metal fixtures or sash-cord fasteners are not new for receiving and holdingsecurely the knotted end of the rope or cord, at the same time admitting of Vits being readily cast oil` in removing thel sash, such, for instance, as Patent No. 23,699. I disclaim a cylindrical ring or plate with outside fixings or elevated or depressed portions, other than the groove and countersunkfscrew holes, being more particularly desirous to use said plate A, when made in the manner shown, in combination with my extra strip, as specified and claimed in my patent aforesaid, No.- 61,433, to which I oder this-as an improvement, and therefore confine myself to its specific construction.

What I claim as my invention, and'desire to secureby Letters Patent, is-

The speciic arrangement of the plate A with its circular opening B, slot C, groove D, and bevelled convexity E on the back, lall arranged in the manner and for the purpose specified.
