ROLLING BLIND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters-Patent No. 629,524, dated J 111 i 25, 1'89'.
Application filed m 6, 1898. Serial No. 685,242. (No model.)
.To all whom it may con/007%.
Be it known that I, REINHARD RICHTER, merchant, a subject of the King of Prussia, Emperor of Germany, and a resident of Kiel, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rolling Blinds, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to rolling blinds; and it is the purpose of the invention to provide a rolling blind which may be used for purposes of advertisement.
To this end the rolling blind consists of an endless band (several bands also may be employed) which is moved slowly and which is provided with inscriptions, pictures, objects, or the like serving the purposes of advertisement. The band is conducted over rollers and is arranged in such a manner as to be easily wound or drawn up.
The new rolling blind is represented-in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front view, and Fig. 2 a side view, of the rolling blind.
to is the endless band, which is constructed in any suitable manner and which serves to receive inscriptions, pictures, objects, or the like serving as means of advertisement. This band is conducted over an upper and lower roller 1) and is set in motion by any suitable 1neans-for instance, by the shaft c-so that it presents in continuous variation to the spectator its exterior surface, provided with said 7 means of advertisement.
In order that the depending portion of the rolling blind may be easily raised like an ordinary curtain to display or uncover the space or articles in front of which it previously depended, the axis 0', upon which the lower roller b'is rotatably mounted, is provided with a rigidly-attached bow'd. A drum or spool e is secured upon the end of the axle 0, upon which is wound a cord 6, which passes upward over pulleys e and to a convenient point within reach of the operator. It will thus be seen that when the traveling motion of the endless belt is stopped and the operator draws upon the cord 6 the axle c and bow d are caused to rotate, the bow turning over and over and folding or winding the curtain thereupon, the roller and bow rising as the curtain is wound thereon until the space previously concealed by the curtain is exposed.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure byLetters Patent, is
In a rolling blind the combination of an endless band a, two rollers b, means for drivingthe upper roller, a bow d fixed to the loose axis 0 of the lower roller and a cord 6 rolled up on this axis and adapted to be operated to cause, said bow to wind up the depending portion of the blind, substantially as described.
Signed by me, at Kiel, Germany, this th day of June, 1898.
REINHARD RICHTER.
