GAS BURNER.
(Application led Nov. 4, 189B.)
(No Model.)
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MAX STRAKOSOII, OF VIENNA, AUSTRIA-HUNGARY, ASSIGNOR TO JULIUS IIOFMEIER, OF SAME PLACE.
GAS-BURNER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 628,561, dated J' uly 11, 1899. Appneeeiou flied november 4, 189s. serrare. 695,489. (No model.)
l'b @ZZ whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX STEAKosoH, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and a resident of Vienna, Austria-Hungary, have invented certainnew and useful Improvements in Gas-Burners, of which the following is a specification. e
The annexed drawings show some of these constructions.
Figure l shows a view in perspective of a form of burner. Figs. 2 and 3 show a second form in perspective view open and closed. Fig. 4 shows a third form in elevation and partly in section.
As shown in Figs. l, 2, and 8, theupper part of the burner is divided longitudinally into two parts a and b, fitting exactly together and packed or made tight on their outside in any known manner, perhaps by grinding. The delivery-passages c are, as shown in Fig. l, made in the surface of one or the other of the halves a or b or, as shown in Fig. 2, in both the halves a and b, while the gas enters through the bore d, which preferably discharges only through one of the halves to the delivery-passages. The junction of the halves a and b is effected by known means thus, so that these halves can be separated one from the other or so that they cohete: In Fig. l the halves a and b are joined together by the hinge e, pressed together by the screw g, passing through a lug in one part, while it has` its female thread in the other part. In Figs. 2 and 3 the halves a and b are joined by an encircling band 7L, which can be taken off, and are pressed together by a pressure-screw g, provided in this band.
Fig. 4 shows a butterflyburner whose@ burner-heads consist each of two parts aand b, meeting in the direction of the delivery#` passages c, joined by a hinge e and pressed tightly together, after being calked, by the screw g, provided in the movable shackle f. The exact butterfly-flame can beobtained with this burner by twisting one or the other of the burner-heads on its axis.
I claim as my invention- In combination, in a burner, solid sections
