Be it known thatLWILLlAM Cswrnmlithographic printer, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, and -a resident of the city of Glasgow, Scotland,have invented certain new anduseful linprovementsin and Connected with Mechanism for Pasting the Bottoms of Paper-Bags, (patented in Great Britain, No. 11,784, May 12, 1897,) of which the following is a specification; v
This invention relates to asimple device for pasting down the folded parts" at the bottoms of paper bags.
In carrying 'out the invention I construct a 'table of any suitable material and fit th'e'reon an oblong or other desired form' of paste vessel'haying amovable front gate. Thearrangemen is such that when it is desired to paste dowm the triangular-shaped folded-over parts at the bottom of the bag the tongue,-
Y with paste on its upper side, is shot forward under the'action of the treadle orthe like over the bottom part of the bag, and the triangular parts can then be. easily folded over on top of the tong-ue,'so as to take the paste therefrom, whereupon the tongue -is with-I drawn by relieving, the treadle-and the triangular parts merely pressed tightly down on the bottom of the-bag bythe fingers. By raising or lowering'the gate ofthe paste ves- -sel the amount or thickness of paste on the tonguecan be regulated.
Asit is necessary in the case of glazed or thick paper bags to keep them pressed for some time in order to make the paste adhere firmly, I provide at the front or other part of the table a pressing-board, consisting of a strip of wood or metal, which is held tightly against the'under side of the table by means 'of rubber or other springs or equivalent. This board has a guidewayin it.

In this view at is a square made on the lower end of the :pin, so as to prevent its movement within the slot 0.

Having now fully described my invention, what I claim, and'desire to secure by Letters 1. In pasting mechanism, a'table, a paste vessel secured to the table'and a pasting tongue with a roof-like top and workingin the bottom of the paste vessel.
