FRANK serum, or MILWAUKEE, isconsin, ASSIGNOR TO HUGO LOEWENBACH, OF SAME PLACE.
'BlLL OR TOILET PAPER HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 610,245, dated September 6, 1898.
' Application filed July 6, 1897. Serial No. 543,638. (No model-l To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK SCHILZ, a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bill or Toilet Paper Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in bill and toilet paper cabinets.
The objects of my invention are, first, to provide means for feeding the paper in single sheets from a loose package, and, second, to provide a simple, neat, and cheap structure for holding and discharging the paper.
In the following description reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of my invention. Fig. 2 is a centrallongitudinal sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is afront elevation of a modified form of my invention, consist ing in a double cabinet of small size adapted for use in banks and similar places for holding deposit-slips, (to.
Like parts are identified by the same reference-letters throughout the several views.
A back or body portion A and cover portion B are secured together by hinges at their lower ends, with a slot D at the joint near the hinges.
E is a hooked spring-catch attached to the cover andadapted to engage underneath the lug F, projecting from the back, and G is a triangularly-shaped key adapted to depress the catch E to release it from such engagement and'permit the cover to be opened.
Within the cover and adjacent to the slot I have located a friction discharge-roller H, and for actuating this roller I have provided a second friction-roller I, journaled to the cover and projecting through an aperture J in the cover, with its inner surface bearing upon the roller II and its outer surface exposed on the exterior of the cabinet.
I is a pawl adapted to engage the roller I and prevent it from being turned in the wrong direction.
The cover B is preferably enlarged or bulged at its lower end to make room for the rollers.
In the rear or back portion A,I have located a presser plate provided with forwardly-projecting flanged arms L on each side, which are hooked over the pivotal supportingpins M, projecting from the sides of the cabinet near the front upper end. The plate K is Weighted, preferably by applying thereto a lead plate N near its upper end.
In use the cover is opened and a loose package of sheets inserted in the cabinet against the presser-plate, the latter being forced backwardly to a position substantially parallel to the back-plate, and the package engaged at its lower end between the presser-plate and friction-roller H, with the lower edges of the sheets in frictional contact with the bottom end of the cabinet. The roller is so positioned that'the sheets will, under the force applied by the presser-plate, spring outwardly one at a time over the edge of the slot and be discharged by the roller whenever the latter is actuated by the thumb or finger applied to the actuating-roller I.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- A 1. Abill or toilet paper cabinet, comprising a body portion and cover portion hinged together and provided with a discharge-slot in the lower end, a friction discharge-roller located in the interior of the cabinetadjacent to the discharge-slot, an actuating-roller located in an opening in the cabinet with its inner surface bearing upon the dischargeroller and arranged to actuate the same, and a presser-plate arranged to en gage a package of paper between it and the friction-roller with the lower edges of the sheets in frictional being Weightedat its upper end and adapted In testimony whereof I affix my signature to engage a loose package of paper between in the presence oftwo Witnesses. its lower end and said friction-roller, and to support the same with the edges of the sheets 5 resting upon-thebottom or end of the cabinet Witnesses:
adjacent to the discharge-slot, substantially J AS. 13. ERWIN, for the purpose set forth. L. O. WVHEELER.
