T0 ALL WHOM IT MAY. CON CERN :y
Be it known that I, A. J. ROBINSON, of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer, and State of New York, have invented anew and useful improvement in Mop-Wringer; and I do hereby declare thatl the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, refer,- ence being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure llis a top view of a portion of a tub or pail with my improved mop-wringer attached.
lFigure 2 is a side view of the same.
Figure 3 is a top view of the bar by means'of which the wringer is attached to the tub or pail.
Figure 4 is an edge view of the same.

My invention has for its object to furnish an improved means by which a, mop maybe wrung without its being necessary to take hold of it with the hands for that purpose; and it consists of a mop-,wringer and supporting bar, constructed as hereinafter more fullydeseribed.
I A is the tub or pail, to the inner side of which the bar, B, of the mop-wringer, C, is attached. The bar B is formed witn its ends curved to correspond with the curve of the side of the tub or pail to which it is lto be attached. These curved ends have upwardly projecting flanges, b1, havipg holes made through them for the passage of the screws by which the said bar is secured to the side of the tub or pail, A, as shown in g. 2. The central part of the bar B is made thicker, or has a projection, 62', formed upon it, to strengthen it where it is weakened by the slot for the ,reception of the tenon c of the wringer C. The'upperpart'of the wringer C is in the form of a circle, with the' central part cnt away; and from the' circular rim, e2, thus formed, two arms, e3,
descend spirally to the lower part, e4, as shown in figs. 1 and 2. These spirals, a3, should make at least one entire revolution in their passage from the upper part or rim, e2, to'the lower or central part, e. The drawing represents the wringer as being formed with two spiral arms, c3, but more than two may be used, if desired, and
when thewringer is made largefthis may be desirable. Upon the lower side of the central or lower part, c, is
formed a tenon c, which itsinto the slot formed in the middle part of the bar B, as shown in g. 2. The tenen el, lower part c4, spirals c3, and rim c, may all be formed solid in one piece, if desired. In using the wringer, the lower end of the wet mop is placed in the cone-shaped central cavity formed by the spirals, and turned about in the ldirection in which the spirals run from the rim c2 to the lower part c. The eifect of the spiral arms c is to draw the mop downward, compressing it into the gradually decreasing cavity and squeezing out the water quickly and thoroughly without its being necessary to take hold of the mop with the hands.
What I claim as new,'and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An improved mop-wringer, formed by the combination of the bar B and Wringer C, constructed with a circular rim c2, two or more descending spiral arms c3, lower central part c4, and tenon c1, substantially as herein described and for the purpose set forth. l
