DENTAL JAW-BRACE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 606,781, dated July 5, 1898.
Application filed September 1d, 1897. Serial No. 651,919. (No model.)
of patients whenever required by the nature of an operation to be performed in the mouth or throat.
The object of my invention is to provide a prop of the character or class named which shall be adjustable in the direction of its length, from the shortest length required to the longest, and include a yielding spring between its extremities to retain it in place and afford desirable elasticity; to make the prop of few and simple parts, which are not liable to get out of order,which may easily and quickly be taken apart for cleaning purposes and just as easily and quickly made and assembled, and to secure other and further advantages in the matters'of construction and operation, as will hereinafter appear. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is an elevation of the device when in position distending the maxillary bones; Fig. 2, an elevation of the device; Fig. 3, a

B is the inner shell telescoped by the outer shell A, both shells being closed at one end jecting' bosses b b and g for the purpose of keeping the s'pringO in the center.

I am aware that it is'not-new to make a j aw-brace with elastic extremities on the same principles thatunderlie my invention.
What I claim'as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination in a dental mouth-prop of the telescoping tubes A and B with the spring G; slot E with curved notches c and screwhandle D, all as and for the purposes set forth.
