To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, OLE R. HAUSKEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lake Preston, in the county of Kingsbury and State of South Dakota, have invented certain new and usefullmprovements in Milking Apparatus; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to milking apparatus, the object of the same being to provide an attachment for the hand of the operator whereby the milk may be conveyed to a covered can or vessel without danger of becoming filled with dirt or other impurities.

The invention consists of a frame adapted to be secured to the wrist or forearm of the operator, a ring adj ustably connected to said frame, and a tube of rubber or other like material attached at its upper end to said ring, gradually converging, with the lower end thereof extending through an opening in the lid or cover of the can.

The invention also consists in other details of construction and combinations of parts, which willbe hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

In the drawings forming a part ofthis specification, Figure 1 represents a perspective view showing the application of my invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional View through the frame supporting the milkingtube with the strap for attaching it to the arm of the operator removed. Fig. 3 is a cross-section through the same. Fig. 4. is a detail perspective view of the ring to which the milkingtube is attached and the jointed rod adjustably mounted in the frame.

Like reference-numerals indicate like parts in the different views.

My improved device is made up of a frame 1, comprising a hollow casing 2, in which is adapted to fit a rod 3, made up of two sections which are pivoted one to the other. The opening through the casing 2 is larger at its 7 forward end than at its rear end, and the rear section of the rod 3 fitsclosely the contracted portion of said opening. The front section 4 of the jointed rod 3 is adapted to be moved laterally in the enlarged portion of the opening in the casing 2, and is formed with longitudinally-extending grooves 5 5 in its edges. The said jointed rod may be moved longitudinally and adjusted by means of set-screws 6 6. Secured to the frame 1 is a strap 7, which is adapted to embrace the wrist or forearm of the operator, with the ends buckled one to the other. Secured to the front section 4 of the jointed rod 3 is a ring 8, formed of wire, with outwardly-extending arms at the ends thereof, which fit into the grooves 5 5 and are secured in place by bands 9, as clearly shown. To the ring 8 is attached a rubber tube 10, which gradually tapers in size from its upper end downwardly, the extreme lower end thereof extending through an opening in the lid of the milk-can.

The operation of my device is as follows: The frame 1 is secured to the wrist or forearm of theoperator in the manner heretofore described and as shown in Fig. l of the drawings. The ring 8 is then so adjusted, according to the length of the arm of the operator and the position of the teat of the cow, that it will lie directly beneath said teat, the hand partially covering the upper end of the tube 10. The milking operation is performed in the usual manner, and the milk is conveyed directly into the milk-can without danger of becoming filled with dirt, hairs, or other filth.

The longitudinal and lateral adjustment of the ring which supports the tube 10 adapts the device to be used by any operator.

Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A milking-tube adapted to be secured to the arm of the operator, and provided with means whereby the position thereof may be adjusted.

2. A milking-tube provided with means whereby it may be attached to the wrist or forearm of the operator, and means whereby it may be adjusted longitudinally and laterally.

3. In a device of the character set forth, the combination of a frame, means for securing said frame to the arm of the operator, a ring attached to said frame, a milking-tube supported by said ring, and means for adjusting the relative positions of said ring and frame, substantially'as and for the purposeidescribed.

4. In a device of the character set forth, a hollow casing adapted to be attached to the arm of the operator, a longitudinally and laterally movable rod in said casing, a ringattached to one end of said rod, and a milkingtube supported by said ring.

5. In a device of the character set forth, a hollow casing, means for attaching said casing to the arm of the operator, a jointed rod longitudinally movable in said casing, a ring attached to one of the sections of said rod, and a milking-tube supported by said ring, as and for the purpose described.

6'. In a device of the character set forth, a hollow casing, a strap for attaching saidcasing to the afrin of the operator, a longitudinally-rnovable jointed rod in said casing, one of the sections of said rod having grooves in its outer edges, a ring having later'ally-ex- I tending arms thereon fitting within said grooves, a band for securing said arms tosaid rod, and a milking-tube supported by said i ring, substantially as. and for the purpose described.

7. In a device of the character set forth, a casing having an opening extending longitudinally therethrough which is smaller at one end than at the other, a strap for securing said casing to the arm of the operator, a jointed rod, one section of which fits tightly the ;contracted portion of said opening, and the other section having longitudinal grooves in the opposite edges thereof, a ring having lat- :erally-extending arms thereon fitting within ,said grooves, a band for securing said arms to said rod, and a milking-tube supported by ,said ring, substantially as and for the purpose described.
