UNITED STATES PATENT OEErcE.
JAMES RENNEY, OF CHARLOTTE, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO LUKE MARVIN, OF SAME PLACE.
IRONING-TABLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 593,181 dated November 2, 1897'.
` Application filed June l0, 1896. Serial No. 595,022. (No model.)
, and the invention consists of a combined skirtboard and receptacle constructed, arranged, and operated as hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure l is a plan view with the skirt-board partially broken away. Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section. Fig. 3 is a sectional detail view. v
A indicates the skirt-board, which is of ordinary form.
B is a receptacle. -It consists of two halfsections a o., pivoted at b and provided with a central longitudinal axial bar c in line with the pivots. These sections can be opened and closed as desired.
d CZ are rounds at the top of the receptacle, and d is a round on one side attached to an extension of two of the'arms and forming a holder for any articles placed thereon.
f f are two cross-bars pivoted on one side to the round d and engaging with the round d on other side by means of open notches, thereby holding the receptacle extended.
g is a siding consisting either of wire or cord passing alternately from side to side through holes in the rounds and also through holes in the center bar c..
The ironing-board A is supported by the cross-bars ff centrally over the receptacle and is free at one end to be swung sidewise,
so that the skirt can be attached and removed over the free end. In the act of ironing the skirt is rotated laterally in the ordinary way, so as to bring new surfaces to the iron, and the body of the skirt is held in the receptacle and prevented from escaping therefrom and coming in contact with any other surface. It therefore always keeps clean and requires no lespecial attention as to that matter.
lclaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the receptacle B made in halves pivoted together, the cross-bars ff pivoted on one side of the receptacle and connected detachably with the other, the skirtboard A resting on the bars, `the elongated pivot .h at 4one end attaching the board to the cross-bar, and the lug It for holding the board elevated when turned to one side, as herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my naine in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
.I AMES RENNEY.
