SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 590,380, dated September 21, 1897.
Application filed April l 9 1 8 97.
To all whom it may conce-rn:
13e it known that I, CARL SCHEID, a citizen of the United States, residing in Harrison, Hudson county, and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spindles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The object of my present invention is to provide a support for spinning-spindles by means of which said spindles are flexibly mounted on the spindle-rail and which support permits an oblique adjustment of the spindle.
The invention consists in the improved spinning-spindlesupporting means and in the combination and arrangement of the various parts thereof, substantially as will be hereinafter more fully described, and finally embodied in the clauses of the claim.
Referring to the accompanying drawings,

In said drawings, cl.' represents the spindlerail, provided with a vertical hole or opening b, and in its upper portion with an annular groove or recesscl, concentrically arranged with the hole or opening l). In the opening b is arranged a downwardly-extending bushing c, secured to the spindle-rail by means of the set-screw c andprovided at its upper portion with an annular flange c2, resting in the annular groove or recess d. The lower portion of said bushing is provided with an (No model.)
eccentrically-arranged opening c3, adapted to be engaged by the annular iiange d of a collar d, which latter is adj ustably secured to the tube e by means of the set-screw cl2. Said tube e penetrates the central chamber c4 of the bushing cand rests with its annular iiange e on an intermediate elastic Washer f, arranged on the flange c2 of the bushing c. The tube e, containing step-and-bolster bearing for the whirl-driven spindle g, is of usual and well-known construction.
The annular iiange or shoulder CZ of the collar d is eccentrically arranged to the said collar and to the hole or opening penetrating the same, as clearly shown in Fig. 4:. I'Vhen the spindle g is in a perpendicular position, the opening in the collar CZ is parallel to and concentric with the chamber c4 of the bushing c. Should it be desired to place the spindle at an angle to the spindle-rail, the collar CZ is rotated or turned until the required position is obtained, in which position it is again secured to the tube e by means of the set-screw cl2.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The combination with the spindle-rail of a bushing arranged in said rail and downwardly projecting therefrom and provided in its lower por-tion with an eccentrically-arranged opening, a tube penetrating said bushing and provided with an annular flange, an elastic Washer between said annular iiange and the top of said bushing, a collar adjust- Vably arranged on said tube and provided in yits upper portion with an annular eccentrically-arranged flange or shoulder, adapted to engage the eccentric hole in the bushing, and a Whirl-driven spindle in said tube, all said parts, 'substantially asandv for the purposes described.
2. The combination with the spindle-rail provided with a vertical hole or opening and in its upper portion with an annular groove 9 or recess concentrically arranged with said opening, a bushing secured 1n said opening and provided with an annular flange resting in said annular groove or recess, and also provided in its lower portion with an eccen- IOD trieally-arranged hole or opening, said tube penetrating said bushing and having its annular flange flexibly mounted on the annular [lange of the bushing, a Collar ad j ustably arranged on the tube and provided in its upper portion with an eeeentrieally-arranged fiange or shoulder, adapted to engage the eccentrcally-arranged hole or opening in said bush? ing, and a whirl-driven spindle in said tube,
all said parts, substantially as and for the 1o purposes described.
