IMPROVED HAlR-RESTO RATIVE.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 58,690, dated October 9, 1868.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN SPRINK, of Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie county, and State of Iowa, haveinvented a new and improved vegetable compound for preventing the hair from coming out, and also for the cure of diseases of the hair and scalp; and I do'hereby declare the following description to be sufficient to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which 1t most nearly appertains to make and use my said invention or improvement without further invention or experiment.
The nature of my invention and improvements consists in amild, sure, and safe remedy for those suffering from the loss of hair, and a certain cure for diseases of the scalp and the causes which produce baldness.
The following is the method of compounding and using the same, viz: To each quart of the mixture, take two and one-half pounds of onions, one and three-fourth pound of turnips, two ounces of salt, and two pounds of hurdock-root. Boil four hours and scent it with one-fourth ounce of oil of bergamot. Boil in one-half cologne spirits and one-half rain-water.
Application should be made once each day as follows: Brush the head well with a stiff hair-brush; then appl; the restorative, after which the brush must he used again.
Having described my invention fully, what. I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is-
lhe proportionate quantities of the ingredients as compounded and made for a vegetable hair-tonic, substantially in the manner and for the purpose as herein specified.
