Description
(No Model) H. NOREOK.
BRACKET FOR INOAND'ESUENT LAMPS! No. 585,350. 7 Patented June 29,1897.
Ewrmzz 7031962? 1165b rzze q,
STATES HERMAN NORECK, OF CIIARLOTTESVILLE,VIRGINIA.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 585,350, datedJune 29, 1897.
Application filed March 5, 1897.
T0 at whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN N ORECK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Charlottesville, (University Station,) in the county of Albermarle and State of Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brackets for Incandescent Lamps; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specification, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The present invention has reference to that class of incandescent lamps exposed to the weather, and has for its object to provide a bracket that will protect the socket of the lamp and the wires from rain or moisture.
The invention consists in a bracket constructed substantially as shown in the drawin g and hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing, which represents a side elevation of my improved bracket partly in section and showing the lamp connected thereto, A B designate the two sections of the bracket, which may be constructed of metal or other waterproof material. The tubular section A, through which the wires 0 extend, is provided at its lower end with an exterior screw-threaded neck a to receive the interior screw-threaded neckb of the section B. This seotionB is in the form of a hood, which is of such shape as to extend over and around the usual socket D of the lamp E and protect it from rain or Serial No. 625,934. (No model.)
moisture. The hood closely fits around the socket, so that no rain or moisture can work in between the hood and socket.
To form a sealed joint between the screwthreaded necks a b and provide-means for shedding the rain, so that the rain or moisture will not come in contact with the wires, there is provided an overlapping guard 0, thereby protecting the wires against injury by contact with rain or moisture.
Having now fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A bracket forincandescent lamps, consisting of the tubular section A through which the wires extend, said section having an eX- terior screw-threaded neck a and an overlapping guard c surrounding said neck and'forming a space between the two, and the section B to form a hood to receive the socket of the lamp, said section having an interior screwthreaded neck which fits in the space between the exterior screw-threaded neck and the guard and engaging with the threads of the former, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed myname in the presence of two witnesses.
HERMAN NORECK.
