Be it known that l, ANDREW JENSEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dover, in the county of Morris and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Looking-Glasses and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others 'skilled in the art to which it appertains to inake and use the same.

This invention has reference to a novel construction in mirrors adapted to be secured outside of a window, so that a person within the room can see reflected in the mirrors the street and iront door of the house.

The invention consists in features of construction hereinafter described and claimed.

ln the accompanying drawings, illustrating this invention, Figure l is a perspective view of the mirror fastened in position. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation. Fig. 3 is a top plan.

In accordance with the principle involved by my invention I employ a center piece l, to the sides ot' which are hinged two mirrorfraines 2. These frames are hinged so that they can swing from a position where they are almost in alinenient with each other, backwardly to a position where they stand practically parallel. To the rear faces of these n1irror-fraines and near their outer edges are pivotcd the outer ends of two links 3, whose inner ends are pivotally connected with the upper end ot a supportingrod i by a coupling A. To the rear face of the block or center piece l is fastened a braced guiderod 5, that slides within coupling A. This coupling consists oi' asleeve c, which receives the guide-rod 5, a depending socket a' in which the upper end of the supportingrod et is secured,and eye-lu gs a2, to which the inner ends of the links 3 are pivoted. The supportingrod a is provided with a horizontal section 6, that passes through a .bearing S, secured to the lower end of the center piece l, and an upright section 7, thatis secured to the socket UI. The lower end of the supporting-bar eis provided with a foot 9, which can be suitably clamped to the window-sill or front part of the window-frame.

Connected with the center piece l or with parts rigidly Connected therewith is a rod l0,

which entends through au opening in the window-frame and into the room and is provided with a suitable handle. It will be seen that by pushing this rod the center piece l is forced outwardly, so that its guide-rod 5 slides through the sleeve a of the coupling A, the coupling being held against movement by means of the fixed rod et 7, and the links being pivotally connected with this coupling the mirror-frames are thrown back toward their parallel position to give a greater angle of vision than when the Inirror-frames are brought forward, which latter throws them so that only the side of the street upon which the house is situated is visible. p

The top edges of the mirror-faces are provided with overhanging ledges ll,which serve to protect the mirrors to a certain extent from the elements.

The device can be readily removed and fastened to a window-frame, as will be obvious, and provides a mirror of its kind possessing the advantages of simplicity and a large range et vision.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. The combination with a stationary support having a guide at its upper end, a center piece having a guiderod situated within said guide, pivoted mirror-frames upon said center piece, links between the outer end portions of said mirror-frames and said station ary support, and devices for moving said center piece with relation to said stationary support.

2. The combination with a stationary support having an upright end provided with a coupling consisting of a sleeve and eye-lugs, of mirror-frames pivoted to a common supporting-piece, a guide-rod upon said common supporting-piece situated and sliding within said sleeve, and links pivoted to said mirrorfrarnes and to said eye-lugs, substantially as described.
