Description

UNITED STATES IIIRAM A. S. PARK, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
DET ERGENT AiZlD PROCESS OF PRODUCING SAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 583,711, dated June 1, 1897.
Application filed Kay 1, 1895. Se
To all whom 1' t may concern:
Be it known that I, line-m A. S. PARK, of the city of Indianapolis, county of Marion, and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Compound for the Introduction into Detergent Compounds, and which compound is fully set forth and described in the following specification.
My invention relates to that class of composition of matter known as detergent compounds; and it consists of a new process of producing the same from the following ingredientsnamely, l yposuliitcof soda, carbolie acid, and water. "Tlics'eare formed into a crystalline compound or suit by the following process: Put a eoneent rated solution of earbolic ,aeid erystals, four fluid drums; hyposulfite of soda crystals, sixteen ounces; soft. water, sixteen ounces, into a porcelain vessel and heat until the soda is dissolved. Then add the earbolic-acid solution and stir while boiling until reduced to one-third less the original bulk in the vessel. Then remove from the fire to a cool place to crystallize. The crystals are then ready for use and may be rial No. 547,743. (No specimens-l ing water to suit the purpose, or they may be added to soap pastes, detergentsolutigns, or used for therapeutic anddisintecting purposes, IIaving thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The process of producing a compound for use in detergents which consists in mixing solutions of hypo suliite of soda, and can bolic acid, and evaporating the resulting product until the solution on cooling deposit-s crystals substantially as described.
:3. The new product herein described obtained by mixing solutions oi hyposulfite of soda, and carbolic acid, evaporating the same the deposited crystals substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I ai'tix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
