T all whom it may concern,.-
Beit known that I, SCHUYLER W. MORGAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Concord, in the county of Merrimac and State of New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lock Sealing- Caps for Bott-les 5 and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which itappertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in bottles, the same residing particularly in means for sealing the upper end 0r neck of the bottle so that it can be filled and used but once.
The invention consists of a bottle having a neck in which an ordinary cork is adapted to be inserted, the said neck being formed with a flaring upper end, with inwardly-projecting flanges along two opposite sides, and a sealing-cap adapted to fit upon and entirely cover the upper surface of said neck, having a lug or projection on its under side which Elts down within the neck and is provided with two projections on opposite sides thereof which engage the underside ofthe lian ges on said neck.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l represents a side elevation of my bottle and sealing-cap. Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the same. Fig. 3 is a similar section taken at right angles to Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a plan view of the upper end of the neck of the bottle and the lower end of the sealing-cap.

The bottle l is formed with a neck 2, in which a cork 3 of ordinary construction is adapted to be inserted and is formed with outwardly-flaring'upper ends, as clearly shown. Projecting inwardly from two opposite sides of said neck are iianges 4:4, which are adapted to be engaged by projections `5 5 upon a lug 6 on the under side of a cap 7, formedwith a broad base which entirely covers the upper end of the neck 2. The said neck may be formed with a weakened portion or diajecting down within said neck, and the cap turned so that the projections 5 on the lug 6 rest beneath the flanges 4 on the neck 2. As soon as the wax or plaster hardens it is iinpossible to remove the cap 7 without breaking the bottle.
To remove the contents of the bottle, it is merely necessary to give a light tap to the upper end of the neck 2, when the same will break along the diamond cut 8, destroying the bottle, but permitting the contents to be poured therefrom.
Vhile I have described my bottle andthe sealing-cap therefor as being especially adapted for use when it is desired to prevent the bottle from being Iilled a second time, it is of course obvious that I may use myim proved sealing-cap on bottles for holding beer and other carbonated beverages, in which the cap serves to hold the ordinary cork in place, and the bottle may be used any number of times it may be desired. In this case the diamondcut or weakened portion 8 would be dispensed with and no sealing-wax or plaster-of-paris would be used. Then the diamond cut S is made in the neck, it is done after the bottle has been lled.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
