Be it known that I, EDGAR M. HICKMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chattanooga, in the county of Hamilton and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Subsoil-Plows, of which the following is a specication, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

My invention relates to subsoil-plows, and the particular features of invention consist in the special construction of the landside and point in connection with the standard.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l shows the complete plow in side elevation. Fig. 2 shows in perspective a transverse section on line 2 2, and Fig. 3 is a detail view of the plow-point.

Referring to the drawings, it will be seen that the standard A is provided with a foot B, which the cross-section shows to be of dovetail form. The rear end of this foot is provided with a stop, which, as shown, consists of small flanges b b, projecting laterally. The shoe which forms the landside is shown at C. It is broadest upon the base, which is plain, and the sides slope inwardly and upward. Centrally is a longitudinal groove of dovetail form open at the top and at both ends. The dovetail groove is exactly tted to slide upon the foot above described, and it is placed upon the foot over the front end and slid backward into place until it bears against the stop.

The parts above described are so adjusted that when the shoe is in place it leaves the front end of the foot exposed, which is adapted to receive the point D. The general form of this point is of ordinary construction.

Opening to the rear in the center is a socket 4o or notches h in the side walls of the point and through a hole in the foot, one pin or bolt thus securing both parts.

I claiml. In combination with the foot of the standard, the slotted shoe fitted thereon, the socketed point fitted upon the forward end of the foot and against the front end of the shoe, and means for holding the point in place, substantially as described.

2. The foot of dovetail shape, having a stop, the slotted shoe fitted thereto, the socketed point fitted to the front end of the foot and the transverse pin, all substantially as described.
