To all whom, it may concern:
' Be it known that I, CHARLES'F. 'l.- KAN- DELER, a citizen of the United States, resid, ing at Chicago, in thecounty of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Fireproof Floor Construction, of which the following is a specifi- 'cationl e My invention relates-to an improved construction of tiered floors, such as are provided in auditoriums, particularly those (including the galleries) of theaters; and my object is to render such floors of light, but strong and durable, structure and thoroughly ,i'reproof. 'Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a broken sectionalview, the sec- `tion being taken lengthwise `of theiloor-` beams, showing Amy improved construction as used in the main or gallery door of a theater; yFig. 2, abroken section taken at the line 2 on Fig. 1 and viewed in the direction of the arrrow, and Fig. 3 a broken-section taken at the line 3 on Fig, 1 and viewed in the direction of the arrow.

In a fireproof tiered-floor construction, the combination of the inclined floor-beams having posts fastened to them at intervals,said posts carrying'upper and lower seats connect- 'ing the posts crossw'ise ofthe beams, fireproof floors on said seats and freproof backs extending between the tiers, substantiallyas described.- e
2. In a iireproof tiered-floor construction, the combination of the inclined floor-beams havingposts fastened to them at intervals, angle-irons p connecting the posts at their upper ends crosswise of thebeams, angle-irons p' similarly connecting saidposts below their upperl ends, iireproof floors on said angleirons and tireproof beams between the tiers,
substantially as described.
3. In aiireproof floor construction, the combination of the inclined door-'beams having posts fastened to them at intervals, brackets fastened to each post, to extend forward thereon, one near the floor-beams and one near the upper end of the post, flreproof floors supported in tiers on said brackets, and flrel proof backs extending between the tiers, substantially as described.
