Be it known that we, THOMAS XV. \VRIGHT and LOUIS D. PRESTON, citizens of the United Statcs,residing at Rochester, New York, have invented an Improved Photographic-Film Holder, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

Our invention relates to an improvement in photographic films, which improvement is fully described and illustrated in the following specification and the accompanying drawings, the novel features thereof being specified in the claims annexed to the said I 5 specification.

Our improved film is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a film embodying our invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same. Figs. 3, 4, and 5 are sectional views representing modifications.

In order to adapt a flexible photographic film for use in magazine film-holders, we provide each film with a suitable flexible non- 2 5 actinic septum and attach to two of the adj acent corners rigid projections, by which the film is shifted in the holder by any suitable mechanism adapted to perform this function. Inorder to provide for the attachment of the 0 projections and the septum, we place a metallic wire w along one end of the film and bend one end of the septum S over it, cementing or otherwise fastening the septum to the film F on both sides, front and back. This arrangement is shown in the sectional view, Fig. 2. lVe have found that a wire of such diameter that fifty films occupy a space of about an inch and three-eighths possesses sufficient strength for the purpose, thus en- 0 abling us to secure great compactness. Any suitable flexible photographic film may be used. The septum may be of cloth or other suitable material adapted to prevent the light from aifecting any but the outermost film.

The septum is only attached to the film along one edge, or at points along such edge, and consequently both the film and the septum will lie flat in the holder, the film, when shifted, being drawn along with the wired edge foremost.

In amodification represented in Fig. 3 the wire is attached to the film and septum by a clip 0, which may be cemented to the film and septum, these parts being attached together along their edges, or the clip may be of sheet metal closed up on the wire and the edges of the film and septum. A metallic clip may be indented to secure a better grip.

In another modification (shown in Figs. 4 and 5) the wire is omitted and the clip 0 is provided with the projections p, by which the film is handled in the holder.

509,611, and such devices are not of our invention. Our improvement relates to a flexible film provided with a flexible non-actinic septum united thereto and provided with rigid projections, all as set forth, whereby the film can be conveniently bent and transferred without injury.

e claim- 1. The combination of the film F, with the flexible non-actinic septum S, said film and septum being connected and provided with rigid projections whereby the film and plate may be bent and transferred, substantially as set forth.

2. The combination of the film F, the flexible non-actinic septum S and projecting rod 7, said film and septum being connected and a margin of the septum folded about the rod and lapped over upon and secured to the film, substantially as set forth.
