BAG HOLDER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 553,752, dated January 28, 1896. Application filed June 3, 1895. Serial No. 551,442. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK GOFF, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Portland, in the county of Ionia and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to an improved device for holding a flour-bag in an inverted position, in connection with a hopper into which the open mouth of the bag fits, thereby utilizing the bag as a chest until emptied, when it can be removed and replaced by a full bag.

The invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bag-holder constructed in accordance with my invention, showing the same as it appears when in use. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the hopper.

In the said drawings the reference-numeral 1 designates a flat board formed near its upper end with a hole 2 for the passage of a pin or nail for holding the same to a Wall or other place. It is also provided with a hook 3, formed of a single piece of wire bent to form the horizontal arm 4 and vertical arms 5, and the ends bent at a right angle and pointed, so as to be driven into the board. Secured to the lower part of the board is a bracket 6, consisting of the horizontal portion 7 and arm 8 at right angles thereto. These arms are secured to and support a hopper consisting of a cylindrical portion 9 and the flaring or funnel-shaped portions 10. Connected with the lower end of part 9 by a bayonetjoint 12 is a cut-off or removable bottom 13. Located in the cylinder 9 is a hemispherical sieve 14, secured at its edges to the interior thereof. The numeral 15 designates a crankshaft journaled in said cylinder and provided with a number of curved arms or beaters 16.

The numeral 17 designates a bail consisting of a metal rod bent over at its center, forming two downwardly-depending arms 18, the lower ends of which are bentinto hooks which engage with apertured lugs 19 secured to the upper part of the hopper. The upper end of the bail is bent inward and engages with the hook on the board.

The numeral 20 designates a strap for securing the bag to the bail.

The manner of using the device will be readily understood from the above description, taken in connection with the drawings.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1. In a bag-holder, the combination with the board and the bracket at the lower end thereof, comprising the horizontal and two outwardly-extending lateral arms, the hopper secured thereto, the sieve and the rotatable beater, the removable bottom and the apertured lugs, of the bail consisting of a metal rod bent over at the center and its ends bent into hooks, and the hook consisting of a metal rod bent over at the center forming a horizontal arm and vertical arms having the extremities bent at a right angle and driven into the board, substantially as described.

2. In a bag-holder the combination with the board, the hook secured thereto, the bracket at the lower end thereof, the hopper secured thereto provided with a removable bottom and apertured lugs, the sieve and the rotatable beater, of the bail consisting of a metal rod bent over at the center and its ends bent into hooks which engage with said lugs; substantially as described.
