To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ERNST L. FORSGREN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident" of New York, county of New York, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part there0f,in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

This invention relates to bottles, and the object thereof is to provide abottle which, having been once filled, cannot be emptied of its contents and again filled without leaving evidence thereof or showing by its condition that it has been filled or used a second time; and with this and other objects in view the invention consists in the combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawings form a part, in which Figure 1 is a central vertical section of the neck of a bottle constructed according to my invention; Fig. 2, a plan View thereof, and Fig. 3 a section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.

In the practice of my invention I provide a bottle A with a neck B, which is provided with an annular groove 0, above which the neck or nozzle is enlarged or substantially conical in form, the inner walls thereof being also inwardly directed or conical in form, the base of the cone being directed upward.

One feature of my invention involves the provision of a non-removable stopper, and in the drawing this stopper consists of an ordinary oork-plug D, through which passes a rod F, to the upper end of which is secured a disk G, which is preferably elliptical in cross-section, and to the lower end of the rod F is secured a cap or nut H. Within the annular groove 0 is placed an open ring K, in one side of which is 'journaled a revoluble glass-cutter L, adapted to bear upon the neck of the bottle or the inner walls of the groove 0, as shown in Fig. 3, and the open ring K is provided at the side opposite the cutter with projecting shoulders M, the outer'sides of which are screw-threaded and are adapted to receive a screw-threaded nut N. In this class of devices the bottle or other vessel is first filled before the non-removable stopper is applied,

and this having been done the stopper is forced into position, as shown in Fig. 1, and

the disk G is secured in place in any desired manner and by any desired means, the only object being to so secure it as to render it non-removable.

hen it is desired to empty the bottle or discharge a portion of its contents, the ring K is revolved within the groove 0, when the cutter L will operate to separate the upper end of the neck or nozzle from the lower part thereof, as will be readily understood, after which the non-removable stopper may be withdrawn together with the separated end of the neck or nozzle.

I may also provide an annular groove or recess 0 in the inner walls of the neck opposite the annular groove O, which will facilitate the above-described operation and render the cutting off of the upper end or nozzle of the neck less difficult.

As thus constructed and applied, it will be seen that when the bottle has once been filled and emptied the fact thereof will be shown by the condition of the bottle itself and the usual proprietary marks, trade-marks, or other designating characters usually applied to bottles of this class may be placed on or formed upon the outer walls of the nozzle, in which event they will be removed therewith, as will be readily understood, and thus after said nozzle has been removed there will be nothing on or'connected with the bottle to indicate the original contents thereof. It will thus be seen that I accomplish the object of my invention by means of a device which is simple in construction and operation, and which is adequately adapted to accomplish the purpose for which it is intended. v

Having fully described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A bottle, provided with a neck having an annular groove therein, a revoluble ring mounted in said groove, and a glass cutter connected with said ring and adapted to bear upon the neck of the bottle, substantially as shown and described.

2. Abottle, provided with a neck having an annular groove therein, a revoluble ring mounted in said groove, and aglass cutter connected with said ring and adapted to bear upon the neck of the bottle, said neck being also provided with a corresponding annular groove in its inner walls, substantially as shown and described.

3. A bottle, the neck of which is provided with a non-removable stopper and an annular groove in its outer walls, in which is placed a revoluble ring, with which is connected a glass cutter adapted to bear upon the walls of the neck, or the inner wall of the groove, whereby the nozzle of the bottle may be cut off, substantially as shown and described.
