UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AGILE N. GAUTHIER, OF NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA.
WATCH-REG U LATOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 544,576, dated August 13, 1895.
Application filed April 20, 1895- $erial No. 546,499- (No model.)
invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in watch-regulators; and it consists in the novel features of construction hereinafter fully described, and especially referred to in the claim.
The object of my invention is to provide a means for adjusting the regulating-lever, whereby the same may be accomplished with great accuracy, and which Will at the same time hold the lever from movement in case the watch is subjected to a sudden jar.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a plan view of my improved regulator. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view. Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional View.
A designates the regulating-lever mounted on the bridge B of a watch-movement, and
spring metal bears upward between the threads thereof, and in this manner a very firm and secure hold is obtained on the screw. The ends of the latter are slotted, as at F, for the reception of a screwdriver for adjusting the same. The bridge is provided with the usual scale G for the purpose of gaging the adjustment of the lever.
In operation, when it is desired to adjust the regulator a screwdriver is applied to either end of the screw, as above described, and the same is turned until the lever has been moved by the screw-threads the desired distance.
The above-described arrangement of parts enables me to secure a much finer and accurate adjustment than is possible in the ordinary method of adjusting the lever. The pins E serve to hold the screw securely in place, but as the same are readily removable the screw may be detached with ease.
' Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the bridge B formed with depression B, the bearings D on the upright wall of the depression, the screw shaft confined in the bearings, the same extending transverse the bridge, and the regulating lever turned down at its free end beneath the said shaft where it is confined between and adjusted by the convolutions thereon, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof Iaffix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
' A. N. GAUTHIER.
