W. G. HART. MILK VESSEL CASE.
No. 544,097. Patented Aug. 6, 1895.
mmwboz M Q /M/r UNITED STATES PATENT Erica.
WVILLIAM G. HART, OF BRISTOL, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO HENRY D. WARNER, OF SAME PLACE.
MILK-VESSEL CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 5&4,09*7, dated August 6, 1895.
Application filed January 31, 1895. Serial No. 536,760. (No model.)
To all wh0m it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM G. HART, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Bristol, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented a certain new and useful Milk-Vessel Case, ofwhich the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure l is a view of the case opened and showing the milk-vessel within. Fig.2 is a view of the milk-vessel closed.
The object of the improvement is the production of a case specially useful to a householder, designed to hold a milk-vessel to await the filling thereof by the milk-Vender and to hold the same well and safely after it is filled and until it is removed by the householder.
The lettera denotes a part or section of the cylinder, practically the larger part, made ,-by preference, of sheet metal and carrying attached to it the floor b, which may be of any suitable material, but preferably wood, that being a non-conductor of heat. The letter 0 denotes a complementary part or section of the entire cylinder hinged to the section a.
The letter cl denotes the cover, which is attached to the swinging section 0. It is raised inthe centerthat is, generally of a convex formin order to shed the rain, and it covers the entire upper edge of both sections and overhangs them like the eaves of a roof, so as to effectually prevent rain from entering into the case when it is, closed.
The letter e denotes a milk-vessel in the case.
The letter f denotes a pocket for tickets attached on the inside of the cylinder-section c.
The letters it" denote the two co-operating parts of the catch which holds the two cylinder-sections together when the milk-vessel is closed, and this catch may be so constructed that a padlock or other lock may be applied to it.
This case is intended to hold the milk-vessel to await the coming of the milk-vender to fill the same and to hold it after it has been filled until the householder removes it therefrom. By means-of it the milk is protected from rain, from dust, and from the elements generally, and, as has been suggested, it may be locked. In that case the householder and the milk-vender are both to be provided with a key. The ticket or tickets are placed by the householder within the ticket-pocket f and removed by the milk-vender when he supplies the milk.
The letter 0 denotes ventilators which admit air without admitting insects or the like.
The case is, as is seen in Fig. 2, provided with means for attaching the case to a wall or the like.
I claim as my improvement- In combination; the cylinder section ahaving the floor b attached thereto; the cylinder section 0 hinged to the section a and having attached thereto the centrally raised roof (1 covering and overhanging the edges of both sections; and the ticket pocket f attached to the section 0; all substantially as described and for the purposes set forth.
