NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN P. LYNOTT, OF LOUISIANA, MISSOURI.`
HEATING-STVOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 544,046, dated August 6,1895.
Application filed Merch i4. 1895.- seriai No. 541,711. (No model.)
ana, in thevcounty of Pike and State of Mis-- souri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Heating-Stoves; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact'description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The present invention has relation to heating-stoves; and the object thereof is to irnprove the same in the several details ofV construction, substantially as shown in the drawings and hereinafter described and claimed.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view of a heating-stove embodying my invention, the outer wall or body being shown as partly broken away to show the interior sheetmetal lining; Fig. 2, a detail perspective view on an enlarged scale, showing a portion of the outer wall or body of the stove and the interior sectional lining and draft-Hue; Fig. 8, a horizontal section taken vthrough the outer wall or body, the lining, and the draft-Hue.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents the outer wall or body of the stove, preferably constructed of sheet-iron and supported upon suitable legs a, the top B of the stove having the usual collar b for attaching thereto the stovepipe. Y
The top of the stove has a circular opening of suitable size, through which the wood vor other fuel may be fed to the stove, and around this opening is an upwardly-extending rim c, over which lits the annular ange d of the cover or lid O.
The cover or lid O is pivotally connected to the topB of the stove by means of a pivot-rod D, which rod at its upper end has oppositely-v extending arms e, which are disposed at right angles to the length of the rod, said arms providing means whereby the rod may be attached to the cover or lid. The arms e are preferably riveted to the ange d of the cover or lid and the rod D extends down through an opening in the top of the stove.
' The urn F is not connected directly to the cover or lid C, butis supported on'feet 1I to allow the circulation of air between the urn and cover or lid, and thus prevent the urn from becoming hot and enabling it to be used as a handle in raising said cover or lid, the feet being fastened by screws or other means found desirable.
The body of the stove has an interior lining of sheet-iron, which is formed in sections, (indicated at G in Figs. 2 and 3 of the drawings.) These sections are of any desirable width and of sufficient length to extend from the top to near the bottom of the stove, one edge of each section being bent to form a groove k and an overlapping flange Z, which groove receives the straight edge m of the adjoining section, thereby enabling-the several sections to be separated by springing the sections out of the grooves.
The draft-flue II is formed by the employment of a separate section I, which section at its edges is bent to form grooves n and overlapping flanges o to receive the straight edges of the sections G upon each side thereof. The section I may be detached from'the sections G in the same manner as the sections G are detached from each other.
The top of the stove has an openingp on line with the draft-Hue, said opening being controlled by a pivoted lid K.
The tine-section I may be of any preferred shape and one or more of the sections G may be fastened to the body of the stove by means of bolts and nuts, as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings.
Having now fully described my invention,
'what I claim as new, and desire to secureby A heating stove, having the sections G, secured to its inner side, which sections form a double thickness of metal with the side of the stove, and have their edges so shaped as to engage with the edgeof an adjoining section or a draft flue, combined with aremovable draft flue, which has its vertical edges so shaped as to engage with those o f the sections G;.substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name inthe presence of two witnesses.
JOHN P. LYNo'r'r.
