I-IZAVES-TROUGH HANGER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 542,222, dated July 2, 1895.
Application filed April 3, 1895 Serial No. 544,298- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARTIN L. HUNKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ganton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio,
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Eaves-Trough Hangers; andI do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawings,

Fig. 2 is a view showing the manner of connecting or attaching the wire to the outer end of the cross portion of the hanger. Fig. 3 is a similar View showing a portion of an eaves-trough properly located.
The present invention has relation to eavestrough hangers; and it consists in the peculiar formation hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawlugs.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents the arm designed to be attached to the rod and is extended downward, and the bottom or lower end of said portion or arm A is provided with the bend a, which bend is for 0 the purpose hereinafter described. From the bend a extends in'a straight line, or substantially so,'the portion 1) to the point X, at which point the'wire isbent to form the segment of a circle and is carried far enough to form 5 nearly a complete ring, and at the point Y the wire is bent to form the loop 0, from whence the wire is placed in the open ring or bend d,
after which said ring or bond (1 is preferably closed, as illustrated in Fig. 3, thewire being 40 extended through the bend (1, thereby connecting the portions b and b together, which portions constitute and form the bridge of the hanger proper. The portion 1) is provided with the bend d, which is for the purpose of receiving the ordinary head of an eaves-trough- From the bend d the wire of the hanger proper is bent into semicircular form and the end extended through the loop 0, as shown in Fig. 1.
After the-hanger proper has been connected to an eaves trough the portion extended above or beyond the loop 0 is bent downward, as illustrated in Figs. 2' and 3, thereby completing the hanger.
One object in forming the bend d as above described is to form a stop, such, as e, which stop is for the purpose of abutting against the inner edge of the eaves-trough, as illustrated in Fig. 3, and thereby prevent the eaves-trough from springing inward. Another object of forming the bend dis to unite the portions 1) and b together, as illustrated in the drawings, thereby giving to the bridge portion of the hanger the desired amount of stiffness.
