To all whom it may concern.:-

Be it known that I, ROLLIN H. ARNOLD, of the city of Rochester, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Book-Supports, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

My invention relates to book supports which are adjustable with respect to their supporting tables, so as to be able to be swung into a number of positions.

In the drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of my invention applied to a'table, showing by dotted lines another position. Fig. 2 shows the slides removed in perspective; and Fig. 3 is a vertical section on the line w y, Fig. 2.

A, is a table; B, a shelf under the same.

C, is the book support, provided with ways, (l, d, fixed to the underside thereof, which engage a base, e, at its edges. The base, e, is pivoted at, f, to the shelf, B, so as to rotate upon said pivot, and after being rotated into the proper position, the book support is slid outward upon its ways, d, d, its motion being limited by a peg, h, or h', engaging the closed end of the slot gor g', respectively, according to the direction in which it is slid. The base, e, is provided with another slot, Z, in which is pivotcd a latch, m, which vibrates horizontally through a short arc, and which has a notch, fn, which engages a peg, lo, which latter projects downward from, O. The latch is pressed forward by a spring, p, placed in a recess behind the latch, as shown. This latch serves to lock the slide, C, when at its central position, .with reference to the table. The

2. The book support, C, provided with ways, d, d', and pins, h, h', and le, in combination with the base, e, adapted to engage said ways at its edges, and provided with slots, g, g and Z, and the pivotcd latch, m, all substantially as described.
