To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SUSANNAH TEIMELE, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Shoes, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to furnish a shoe made wholly or' in part of india-rubber or of any water proof material, which can be easilyand quickly put on, and also protect the foot from wet or dampness more effectually than the ordinary over shoe, and at the same time to be of less length in the leg, and of less Weight than an ordinary rubber boot.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a longitudinal section ofV a shoe constructed according to my invention, and Fig. 2 is la top View thereof.
The shoe can be made of india-rubber or any Water proof material and lined or not with any soft material. It'y may have a top close to the foot by an elastic band A, extending through its folding portion.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. A shoe provided with an upper, having the entire circumference ofits mouth portion in the form of accordion-like plaits, to expand and contract, the said plaits extending downwardly and merging into the flat form of ordinary shoes at the heel portion, substantially as described.
2. Ashoe provided with an upper having the entire circumference of its mouth portion in the form of accordion-like plaits, to expand and contract, the said plaits extending down- Wardly and merging into the flat form of ordinary shoes at the heel portion, and having an elastic band loosely extending through them, as specified.
