LACE- REEL.

SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 534,283, dated February 19, 1895.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES ALEXANDER BRIEOHTEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Streator, county of La Salle. and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lace-Reels and 1the Like, of which the following is a specifica- The object of my invention is to provide a device in which reels of lace and similar goods may be held for convenience in exhibiting the goods as well as for removing the goods from the reel.

The invention consists in a frame, that is adapted to hold reels carrying lace and similar goods, said frame being pivotally'carried andhavmg means for adjusting it in different positions so that it may be turned to exhibit the goods to the best advantage, and permit the goods to be readily unwound.

Themvention also consists in the novel details of improvement and the combinations of parts that will be more fully hereinafter set forth and then pointed out in the claims.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing which is a perspective view of my improvement.

Similar letters of reference refer to corre-. sponding parts in the drawing.

The letters F. F. indicate two parallel bars which are connected by rods b, which form togethera rectangular frame.

A are the reels upon which the silk or other goods are wound, and the frames or reels A have apertures to receive the rods 19, whereby said frames are mounted on said rods as shown.

The bars F. F. are pivotally connected with upright or hanging rods H, which may be sus. pended from a ceiling or otherwise supported. The supports or hangers H, are shown forked at their ends h, and pivots '11 pass through said forks and the bars F.

The bars F are shown provided with rack teeth f, which are adapted to be engaged by brace rods D, pivotally carried by the standards or hangers H. The brace rods D are extensible and are shown in two pieces. each, one piece being tubular and receiving a rod or tube 01 said parts being held together by a set screw d The ends G of the brace rods D can be adjusted in the teeth f of rack Serial No. 514,297. The brace bars D are shown pivotally connected with sleeves or collars E, adjustable on the supports or hangers H and held in position by set screws D The supports or hangers H, may be braced by tie rods or wires a, having turn buckles a, said tie rods being connected with the ceiling I and the lower ends of the hangers H as shown.

The tie rods a are shown provided with pulleys or sheaves B, over which pass wires or cords c, that are connected with the ends of the bars F, respectively. One end of the wire or cord 0 will be permanently attached to its end of the bar F, and the other end will be drawn through a loop on said bar and tied at such a point as will keep said wire 0 taut around the sheaf. By this means the ends of the bars F are braced or supported, and

the wiresor cords a can be readily adjusted to correspond to the positions assumed by the bars F. F. 7

With the above device the reels A, that are hung on the bars b, b, can be supported or adjusted in the desired positions for exhibition by turning the frame to the desired angle, the braces D, D, when adjusted in the racks fif, holding it in position. A special advantage of my device is that the silk or other goods on-t-he reels can be readily removed as they will rotate on the rods b b, as the goods are drawn 0E.

The device is simple in construction, can

be placed in the desired position and suspended from above so as not to be'in the way.

I claim- Y 1.
