SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 533,882, dated February 12, 1895. I Application filed April 2A, 1894- Seriel No. 0 177 8. (No model.)

To all whom may conoernr Be it known that we, J oHN FREEMAN, of Bedford, in the-county of Cuyahoga, and FRANK D. MARBLE, of Kent, in the county of Portage, State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt-Susponders; and we do hereby declare the follow ing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make I and use the same.

' Our invention relates to improvements in beltsuspenders for the suspension of a belt thrown off its pulley and notin service; the object being to construct a device adapted to hold an idle belt away from the shaft and pulley, so that the belt is not liable to rub against the shaft, or pulley, orboth, resulting inthe prolongation of the life of the belt.

With this object in view, our invention consists in certain features of construction,

The device is actuated into an operative position by hand or by any suitable tool adapted to engage the device and capable of manipulation by hand.

What we claim is-= 1. A belt-Suspender consisting of a sleeve D, pivotally supported, a belt engaging member A extending through and adjustable end wise of said sleeve and suitable means for securing the belt-engaging-member in the desired adjustment, substantially as set forth.

2. A belt-suspender consisting of two'arms or bars E pivotally supported, as at e, sleeve D pivotally supported between the free ends of said arms or bars, and a belt-engaging-member A extending through and adj ustableendwise of said sleeve, and suitable means for securing the belt-engaging-member in the desired adjustment, the parts being arranged substantially as shown, for the purpose specified.
