To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, BERNHARD G. LAUTZ and GEORGE E. FILLMoRn, citizens of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in HoseClamp Pliers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to hose clamp pliers and the objects of the same are to provide pliers of the above nature which are especially adapted for the use set forth and which are provided with means for positively bending the ends of the hose clamp into a position shown in dotted lines in the drawings so that the same may be riveted together as is well known, and one which consists of but two sections hingedly con nected together whereby the same can be manufactured and placed upon the market at a very low cost.
With the above and other objects in view, our invention relates to such details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of the several parts as will be hereinafter fully described and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing our invention in detail ref erence will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the sev eral views and in which,

Referring to the drawings wherein is illustrated the preferred form of our invention, the numerals 1 and 2 designate the body portion of the sections which constitute the device. The body portions are provided at one of their ends, as clearly shown, with op erating members 3 and 4:, they being formed integral therewith and at the other end with substantially curved extensions 5 and 6. The extensions are disposed opposite each other and provided with rolled extensions 7 and 8 whereby they may be pivoted together through the medium of a pintle 9.
When our device, as constructed, is used to bend the hose clamp such as shown at 10, into place, the ends of the said hose clamp cannot be bent closer together, and because of this fact has provided upon one of the extensions 5 a loop 11 which engages one end of the hose clamp so as to hold the same Specification of Letters Patent.

substantially parallel with the body portion of the device, while the other end of the clamp is bent into place by the end of the other extension 6.
The greatest of stress is laid upon the simpliclty of the means for holding the ends of the clamp in parallel relation to each other and it is also thought that the advantages and novel features of the entire device will be readily appreciated from the foregoing disclosure.
lVe desire it to be understood that we inav make slight changes in the construction and in the arrangement and combination of the several parts, provided such changes fall within the scope of the sub-joined claims.
Having thus fully described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A hose clamp applying tool including a band composed of a pair of hingedly connected sections, a manually gripped elon gated operating handle formed integrally with each section, the point of connection bea ing disposed in spaced relation to the free end thereof, a portion of each band section extending beyond said point of connection to increase the leverage exerted upon said section, said handles being bowed oppositely adjacent the said sections to provide a working space therebetween.
2. A hose clamp applying tool including a band composed of a pair of hingedly connected sections, a manually gripped elongated operating handle formed integrally with each section, the point of connection be ing disposed in spaced relation to the free ends thereof,a portion of each section extending beyond the said point of connection to increase the leverage exerted upon said band section, said handles being bowed oppositely adjacent the said section to provide a working space therebetwcen, and a lip formed upon the free end of one of said sections, said lip and the free end of the other of the said sections being adapted for engagement with the hose clamp acted upon to position a portion of the said clamp within the said working space, as and for the purpose set forth.
