TROLLEY FOR ELECTRIC RAILWAYS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 532,200, dated January 8, 1 895. Original application filed September 27, 1889, Serial No. 325,244- Divided and this application filed March 8, 1893. Serial To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, JOHN C. HENRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Westfield, county of Union, State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trolleys for Electric Railways, of which the following is a specification.
This case is a division of my application filed on the 27th day of September, 1889,
serially numbered 325,244, and Patent No.
501,009, dated July 4, 1893.
I will first describe the invention with reference to the accompanying drawings and then point out in the claims the novel features.
In the drawings: Figure I is a side elevation of a portion of an electric railway car, with the trolley and lubricating devices which are the special features of this invention. Fig. II is an end view of the trolley, showing in section one of the line conductors upon which it is supported.

The form of working conductor preferably employed by me is a flat horizontal ribbon of great tensile strength such as shown at 5.
The trolley has a frame or U-shaped part and sides of the working conductor 5 and is supported on said conductor by flat removable wear plates cups 8 for holding and supthe working conductor.

The Wear plates 7 make an exceptionally efficient contact with the working conductor and when worn may be readily removed and replaced.
Having thus described my invention, the following is what I claim as new therein and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. The combination of the flat ribbon Working conductor, the trolley-frame on one side thereof, and the removable contact and wear plates fixed to said frame and bearing against the opposite side of said conductor.
2. The combination of flat ribbon overhead working conductors, pendent supports connected to the middle thereof, contact and wear plates running on said conductors on the opposite sides of the supports, a'frame pendent from said plates, a traveling motor and a mechanical and electrical connection therefrom to the said frame.
3. The combination of the flat ribbon overhead conductor, the contact-trolley pendent therefrom, the wear plates running on top of said conductors and lubricators carried by said wear plates.
4. The combination of the flat working conductor composed of a flexible ribbon having plane sides and a contact trolley embracing the top, bottom and sides thereof.
