To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ADOLF BALENSIEFER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State ot New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Breech-Loading Firearms, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its objects to provide a new and improved fire arm, the parts of which can be readily detached and the barrel utilized as a cane or walking stick, and to provide novel means for cooking and releasing the firing needle.
To accomplish these objects my invention consists in the features of construction and the combination or arrangementof parts hereinafter described and claimed, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 14s a side elevation of the fire arm. Fig. 2 is a plan view (enlarged) of part of Fig. 1 and showing the catch open to let the barrel drop. Fig. 3 is an inverted plan view of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 shows the barrel serving as a cane. Fig. 5 is a sectional side elevation showing the arm discharged. Fig. 6 is a view similar to Fig. 5 showing the barrel dropped. The barrel is held up by a spring or catch engaging a stud l and when the catch 10 is withdrawn or released (Fig. 2) by the lever 8 fulcrumed to the lugs 9 of the catch 10, the In this position a cartridge f can be withdrawn by the extractor 11 and a fresh cartridge inserted.

Onto the tube 4 is slipped a wooden sleeve or shell 6 and said tube 4 has internal and external screw threads 15 and 16 (Fig. 6). To the screw thread 15 is secured the handle d, Fig. 5, and to the screw-thread 16 is secured the stock e having a form similar to that of an ordinary shoulder gun.
The various parts of the fire arm can be readilydismounted or detached and the construction of the arm is simple so as to be reliable in operation and readily repaired whenarm actuated by the barrel and adapted to engage the needle for cooking the latter when the barrel is dropped substantially as described.
