Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.,
DOMINICO CHECKENI, OF MARION, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND GEORG N. THOMPSON, OF NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.
FANCY DOLL.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 52,782, dated February 20,1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DoMINroo GHECKENI, of Marion, in the county of Hartford and Stat-e of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Fancy Dolls; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction, character, and operation of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which make part of this specification, in Which- Figure l is a perspective view of the doll, showing one of the faces, Wig, bnsk, &c. Fig. 2 is a section of the same cut vertical through the center from front to rear, indicating the fore face and the axis or pivots on which the head turns vertically.
My improvement consists in making the doll with four faces and having its head revolve on an axis or pivots, so that either face may be brought in front at pleasure.
I make the busk A of Wax or any other suitable materal, in the proper form to sustain a wig which will serve for all the faces.
I make the head B of wax or any other suitable material, with four faces, as in Fig. 2.
I make the faces of any desired character of features, and suspend the head on an axis, as indicated at a, Figs. 1 and 2, or two pivots made of the crank form or any other snitable or convenient form, so that the head may be revolved vertically, so as to exhibit either of the faces as desired. V
I make the wig C of the usual form, so as to cover all portions of the head except the face which is desired to be exhibited, substantially as represented in Fig. l and indicated in section in Fig. 2.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
Making the dolls'head with four faces and suspending` it in the wig-frame in such a manner that the head may be revolved vertically, so as to bring` either of thefonr faces in front at pleasure, when the whole is constructed and fitted to operate substantially as herein described.
